Asteriod Named After George Takei

George-Takei-AsteroidGeorge Takei simply rules. Aside from James Earl Jones, he probably has the damn coolest voice in the entertainment industry. And when the man speaks Japanese, he can make you crap yourself on demand. I swear, if he got mad and started yelling at me in Japanese, talking about the lack of honor I have shamed my ancestors with, I’m pretty sure I’d jump off a building if he told me to.

Anyway, looks like the man has just had an asteroid named after him. The folks over at SciFi give us this:

Star Trek and Heroes star George Takei has been immortalized by having his name permanently affixed to an asteroid between Mars and Jupiter, StarTrek.com reported. The Committee on Small Body Nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union approved the name “7307 Takei” for the asteroid previously labeled “1994 GT9,” the site reported.

That’s hilarious. I think I’ll name one of my nuts Takei. I just hope they didn’t really kill him off Heroes. If they did… that was a totally lame thing to do, and a totally lame way to go.

  1. George came out to a function here in Seattle. He was great to everyone. Took time for everyone for photos and autographs. Even our local news people feel in love with him. What this post didn’t mention was George’s response to the naming. He said with his deep rumbly voice “Now I’m a heavenly body too.” I also like the fact he has never put down us fans of Star Trek or dissed the franchaise. Finally, If you guys haven’t seen the roast of William Shatner, George killed the crowd. He was the funniest guy their that night. His shit was cutting edge gold. Rent it or buy it.

  2. from what i hear from my boss at work this guy was simply just a cool ass guy….he is a 55 year old trekkie that met him a couple times when he went to his fanboi mission rallies back in the days…hahaha but ya he said that george was a pretty great guys to the loyal fans but personally to my boss, so ya cool stuff.
