‘Evil Dead Burn’ Begins Filming with July 2026 Release Date
The Deadites are rising again. Filming has officially begun on Evil Dead Burn, the latest entry in the long-running horror franchise. Director Sébastien Vaniček shared a behind-the-scenes set photo to confirm that production is now underway and the release date is locked for July 24, 2026.
A New Vision from Sébastien Vaniček
Vaniček, the French filmmaker behind the acclaimed creature thriller Infested, is not just directing, he’s also co-writing the script. His work on Infested drew praise for its claustrophobic tension and brutal practical effects, which has horror fans expecting a brutal, no-holds-barred entry into the Evil Dead universe.
“I told the studio I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts,” said Vaniček. “If I survive the process and still have a career, I’ll move on to something else.” According to reports, producer Sam Raimi is giving the director full creative freedom to bring his unique spin to the mythology, with a distinctly French twist.
A Standalone Chapter with a New Cast
Like recent entries, Evil Dead Burn will tell a standalone story. It ditches Ash Williams in favor of a new setting and fresh characters while continuing the franchise’s legacy of Deadite mayhem. The cast is led by Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), alongside Hunter Doohan (Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and Tandi Wright (Pearl).
Character details are being kept under wraps. Still, the casting suggests the franchise will continue centering its story around strong female leads, similar to Jane Levy in Evil Dead (2013) and Lily Sullivan in Evil Dead Rise.
Franchise Expansion and a Shared Universe
Ghost House Pictures, Raimi’s production company, is going all in on the future of the franchise. Another Evil Dead spinoff is already in development, this time from filmmaker Francis Galluppi, known for The Last Stop in Yuma County. Galluppi’s film is based on an original idea pitched to Raimi and marks a bold step toward building a larger shared horror universe.
This aggressive expansion follows the massive success of Evil Dead Rise, which grossed over $147 million worldwide in 2023. The formula of standalone terror stories rooted in Deadite lore continues to prove itself. With Evil Dead Burn now filming and Galluppi’s spinoff on the way, the franchise is growing into something bigger, and bloodier.
Mark Your Calendars
Evil Dead Burn will hit theaters on July 24, 2026. If Vaniček delivers on his promise of an uncompromising horror experience, this could be the most terrifying chapter yet.
