The Wrong Girls First Look Reveals Kristen Stewart in Psychedelic Comedy

Neon has officially pulled back the curtain on The Wrong Girls, a new stoner comedy featuring Kristen Stewart and Alia Shawkat. The studio released a series of first-look images that offer a glimpse into the chaotic, psychedelic journey awaiting the film’s lead characters.

The story follows Frankie, played by Stewart, and Molly, played by Shawkat, two codependent friends who find their lives upended after accidentally coming into possession of a briefcase filled with glowing vials of an experimental psychedelic. The resulting chaos forces the duo to navigate a series of bizarre events, including encounters with Danish hitmen and supernatural abilities.

A Directorial Debut

The film marks the directorial debut of Dylan Meyer. In a recent interview, Meyer described the project as a love letter to chaotic platonic partnerships. While the movie promises plenty of absurdity, including talking cats and giant squids, Meyer emphasized that the emotional core of the story is rooted in her own real-life experiences with her producing partner, Maggie McLean.

The ensemble cast is rounded out by LaKeith Stanfield, Kate McKinnon, Zack Fox, Tony Hale, and Geena Davis, with additional voice work from Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani. Beyond her role on screen, Stewart also serves as a producer on the project alongside Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and others.

What to Expect

The premise of The Wrong Girls leans heavily into the stoner comedy genre, but with a supernatural twist that sets it apart from typical entries in the category. With a release date currently set for August 14, 2026, the film looks to offer a unique blend of memoir-inspired stakes and high-concept comedy. Fans of the cast and the creative team behind the camera will likely be watching closely to see how this experimental project translates to the big screen.
