CD Projekt confirmed that a new The Witcher 3 DLC is on the way, extending the beloved 2015 title with a third expansion titled Songs of the Past. The expansion will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2027. Development is being handled by Fool’s Theory, a studio composed of veterans who worked on the original game.
What We Know About the Expansion
Players will once again step into the boots of Geralt of Rivia for a brand‑new adventure. While the exact storyline remains under wraps, CD Projekt promises more details in late summer 2026.
Context Within the Franchise
The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies and is widely regarded as one of the greatest games of its generation. Its two previous expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, added substantial content and kept the world fresh for years.
Beyond the DLC, CD Projekt is juggling several Witcher projects, including a remake of the original game, a multiplayer title, and the upcoming Witcher 4.
Release Timing and Announcement
The expansion was originally slated for an anniversary livestream later this week, but a leak prompted an earlier reveal. The livestream will still occur on May 28 at 11 am US‑ET, where further information is expected.
Fans can look forward to a new chapter in Geralt’s saga, extending the life of a game that continues to shape the open‑world RPG landscape.
