Johnny Depp thinks Clooney and Pitt could play Lone Ranger

With Westerns making a quiet comeback Disney is itching to get its Lone Ranger project rolling, and the push is on to find their leading man with Johnny Depp already signed to play Tonto.

Depp has some ideas too, but admits he has no clue what direction they are going to go with or who they might pick.

Moviefone says:

Unfortunately, they’re not exactly inspired options. Depp told Entertainment Tonight that the push is on to find the Lone Ranger. Depp says: “There’s so many interesting possibilities out there. Brad [Pitt] would be great. [George] Clooney would be great. Don’t know who it’s going to be just yet.”

Some fan choices suggest Tom Hardy or Jon Hamm.

I am kind of at a loss to assume who might be John Reid – the mysterious Masked Man of the Lone Ranger series since his sidekick is already going to be Johnny Depp.

Who do you get to stand forward when Depp is playing a sidekick??

  1. I think Depp should play the Lone Ranger and they should get a full blooded native american actor to play Tonto. As a kid the Lone Ranger was my favorite show. Clayton Moore is the best. In my mind I think Depp could pull off either part, I’d just rather see him as the Ranger not the sidekick. I am glad they are revisting this classic character though.
