Denzel Washington will star in the futuristic drama The Book of Eli for directing team Allen and Albert Hughes.
The post-apocalyptic drama is based on a story by Gary Whitta, and scripted by Anthony Peckham, and focuses on the not-so-distant future where America is a wasteland and a lone warrior (Washington) fights to bring society the knowledge that is key to its redemption. Filming starts in January in New Mexico

The post apocalyptic genre is outstanding and I’m glad to see Denzel join the fold. Perhaps the reining hollywood enthusiast Kevin Costner will join him for yet another outing into the apocalyptic future. Having driven through New Mexico, I can attest to its perfection for this sort of film. The desert is where these sorts of films need to be. You need a bleak landscape to visually compliment the story.
I am very interested in watching how this develops and am tickled that we may have a big budget apocalyptic sensation on our hands! Denzel, work your magic my friend.

the carpenter’s /production crew will begin redesigning 12th street
here in carrizozo nm on monday
the production mgr presented the plans at city trustee’s meeting
the old mainstreet -12th known as “the street”
is a budding art colony w/ gallerys studios art classes resident artists
sketching w/ live models oh we are on our way
it will be completely redesigned as a destroyed small village
as it is we are 1000 souls in a town
w/o a grocery store or any other amenities
this village was built by two railroad guys in the 1880’s
the mexicans -hispanic were actually put on the other side
of the tracks as they were the peons
there are the rich ranch owners a group of new folks
oldtimers who dont want change
wonder what they think of a movie being created here??
the filming will begin in march for 5-6 days
we are so excited
will be able to watch the whole enchilada

one of my favorite genres is the post apocalyptic movies. in my opinion their aren’t enough good ones. so when you say that denzel is involved, you’ve got my interest.
