Studio Interested In Nutty Professor 3

Nutty-ProfessorIt looks like some very horrible people are considering a new Nutty Professor film. We get the sad news thanks to our friends over at comingsoon:

Universal and Imagine Entertainment are in the early stages of developing a new “Nutty Professor” movie, in what would be the third installment of the remake of the 1963 Jerry Lewis vehicle, says The Hollywood Reporter. An open call is out to writers for their take on a potential third entry.

Although it has been eight years since the last “Nutty” came out, executives are interested in a new version that would follow The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps, starring Eddie Murphy. Murphy is not attached to a new “Nutty”; his involvement would be contingent on the writer, director and other elements.

This is a job posting that I hope never gets answered.

Remember a few months back where Eddie Murphy made a pledge that he was going to return to stand up and stop making films – I hope that happens. Murphy needs to stop wasting his time with films like this and: 1) do shit he can be proud of. 2) retire.

As a person who grew up watching Eddie’s standup, I can’t stand to see him throwing out shit like this. Don’t do it Eddie, don’t do it.

  1. When Eddie Murphy’s gonna penned The Nutty Professor 3 if the script is good, well written and funnier then we need the right director, then we can get the original cast Jada Pinkett (appeared in the first, not the second), Larry Miller, John Ales and Janet Jackson (appeared in the second, not the first) back again we can get more scenes on their characters often unlike the first two where and Jerry Lewis can make a wonderful cameo guest appearanice is long as his working on co-producing remakes of his old classics I can’t wait to see him back on co-produced the third one where he can have a hand in the writing with good ol’ Eddie to make a good hit as possible.

  2. I mean seriously people…it has been so many people in hollywood who has flopped in movies and now eddie murphy is a joke???? If you are a true fan u wouldnt say that…but u do have that choice to not go and see it also!

  3. I hate to bring you bad news, too. But, I watched an interview with Eddie Murphy, and he said that he would never do stand-up again. And plus, his movies are just as hilarious as his stand-up.

  4. Back on topic, I’m still surprised that someone at Universal has been thinking about getting this movie made for the last eight years. You know someone’s out of touch when they look at box office trends and still think there’s a market for Eddie Murphy in a fat suit.

  5. Dragonslayer,

I completely agree with your assessment even though I haven’t seen the movie.

I think that what a lot of reviewers are overlooking is that this is a Bond that has been reinvented for a modern audience.

Also, from what I’ve read, QoS is largely a movie about revenge. It’s Bond on a rampage. He just doesn’t have the time or the desire to stand around drinking martinis and flirting with all the ladies.

And it is not lacking in plot. Bond goes out for revenge while hunting down the members of a secret world order sounds like a pretty solid Bond plot to me.

And I’m sorry. While I think I can understand where Ebert is coming from, Bond is definetly an action hero.

  6. QoS was the shit! I fucking loved every single moment of it. I know a lot of people ghave said shit about it, but I was too caught up in the movie to care. 9/10.

Did anyone read Robert Ebert’s review for QoS? He says “Please understand: James Bond is not an action hero!”

Bond is NOT an action hero? What do you mean, Ebert? Have you not seen the other 21 movies? I dunno where that assumption comes from, but it’s kinda retarded.

    I loved Quantum of Solace.

  8. I second that! Where is the QoS review?? Hmmmm?

You know I’ve read many reviews and I’m going to see it this weekend but I always put the most stock into what you guys have to say about it. Why is there no Bond love at TMB?

  9. Sherman Krump creates a cure for diabetes which becomes a HUGE selling product making him a multi-billionaire. The side-effect is everyone who takes it turns into Buddy-Love(!)

There’s my NUTTY PROFESSOR 3 pitch. Can I have my money now, Universal?
