Bio Dome 2

BiodomeBio Dome may be getting a sequel! We get the curious scoop from out friends at moviehole:

Stephen Baldwin – who my wife says (I haven’t seen it) has an amusing cameo in Dave Dobkin’s latest, “Fred Claus” – is in talks to star in a sequel to his 90s er, classic, “Bio-Dome”.

According to The NY Daily News, Baldwin, who recently became a born-again Christian, talked extensively about that part of his life on Tuesday with morning host Johnny Stone on WAWZ (99.1 FM). Its there that the star of such classics as “Snakehead” and “Earthstorm” reportedly mentioned his involvement in a possible sequel to director Jason Bloom’s “Bio-Dome”, a comedy that starred Baldwin and Pauly Shore as two guys who get inadvertently trapped in a “Bio-Dome” for a year without outside contact.

Is this what happens when non union scabs are left in control? Bio Dome 2 will be written by a horse with a pencil in his lips; chances are it will be better than the original. The much maligned first film currently boasts an 8% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I can see how everyone involved with the first Bio Dome may get drunk on occasion and have the horrible idea that they should do a sequel; but these intoxicated promises were meant to be broken and forgotten.

This movie is like watching a pregnant woman ice skate, it shouldn’t happen, and you certainly don’t want to watch for fear of disaster – but you simply cannot help yourself. Such stupid decisions must be rewarded with an audience; they demand it.

A dozen years have passed since the original film and a whole new generation is about to experience the glory of the Bio Dome. In this shared experience we may enjoy a camaraderie that spans generations. Fathers will tell sons of the original Bio Dome and the kids of today will tell their children of Bio Dome 2, the next unborn generation will in turn demand their own Bio Dome. Like hungry baby birds with maws outstretched towards the sky, they will hunger for the sustenance that is Bio Dome 3. They will eat of its message, and experience the same taste as their forefathers; the mysterious taste of cheese and shit.

    BIO-DOME a classic comedy?
Yeah right, maybe in the cocain-destroyed minds of Stephen Baldwin and Pauly Shore.
Who the hell wants to see that? I can’t think of any film which does deserve a sequel less than BIO-DOME.

Ohhh, but wait…..The first one had Kylie Minogue in it. So as long as she’s back, I’ll be seeing this. I doubt it though.
