Shudder has unveiled the official trailer for Nightborn, the latest horror feature from Finnish filmmaker Hanna Bergholm. Following her previous work on the creature feature Hatching, Bergholm returns with a story centered on the unsettling experiences of new parents.
The film follows Saga, played by Seidi Haarla, and her husband Jon, portrayed by Rupert Grint. As the couple begins their journey into parenthood in the Finnish forest, Saga becomes increasingly convinced that there is something deeply wrong with their newborn child. While her husband remains unaware, Saga struggles with the disturbing reality of their situation.
A New Chapter in Horror
Nightborn premiered earlier this year at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival and is scheduled to screen at the Fantasia Film Festival later this month. The film also features performances from Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey, and John Thomson.
For fans of Bergholm’s previous work, this new project appears to lean into intense, unsettling imagery. The trailer suggests a shift away from subtle psychological tension toward a more direct and frightening exploration of newborn mania. You can view the official trailer on the FirstShowing report.
Nightborn is set to stream on Shudder following its festival run. The film serves as a notable follow-up for Bergholm, continuing her exploration of body horror and domestic unease.
