Zee 5 Global Sets Independence Day Premiere for Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata

Zee 5 Global has announced the upcoming digital premiere of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, a new drama arriving just in time for India’s Independence Day. The film is scheduled to debut on the streaming platform on August 14, 2026. It focuses on the untold stories of individuals who displayed immense courage during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.

The narrative centers on the events at Cama and Albless Hospital during the 2008 attacks. Rather than focusing solely on security forces, the film highlights the actions of nurses, ward boys, cleaners, and other hospital staff who prioritized the safety of their patients while facing extreme danger. The production aims to serve as a tribute to these everyday heroes whose contributions have often remained outside of mainstream headlines.

The film features a cast led by Kangana Ranaut, who also serves as a producer. She is joined by Girija Oak and Smita Tambe. The project is written and directed by Manoj Tapadia. Production duties were handled by PEN Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Paramhans Creations, in association with Eunoia Films LLP and Floating Rocks Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

A Different Perspective on 26/11

For audiences, the release of this film during the Independence Day period offers a reflective look at national resilience. By shifting the focus from the tactical response to the humanitarian efforts inside the hospital, the filmmakers provide a grounded perspective on a well-known historical event. This approach emphasizes themes of compassion and duty, which the studio believes will resonate with viewers globally.

Director Manoj Tapadia noted that the intention was to explore a side of the 26/11 tragedy that has not been fully examined in previous media. He expressed his gratitude that the film will reach a wide audience through the Zee 5 platform, allowing the stories of the hospital staff to be recognized as part of the collective memory of the nation.

Streaming and Production Details

As a homegrown OTT platform, Zee 5 Global continues to prioritize content that highlights culturally resonant stories. The decision to premiere the film on August 14 aligns with the platform’s strategy of releasing inspiring narratives during significant national holidays. The film is presented in Hindi and is categorized as a thriller-drama, blending historical tension with character-driven storytelling.

The release of this project marks another significant entry in the growing library of Indian content on the platform. By bringing these specific stories of sacrifice to the screen, the production team hopes to foster a deeper appreciation for the quiet heroism that occurred during one of the most challenging chapters in recent history.
