On August 30, 2026, the organization will host a live reading of the classic Star Trek episode The Man Trap. The performance will feature Noah Wyle in the role of Captain James T. Kirk, joined by several cast members from the current series The Pitt.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Lodge Room in Highland Park, Los Angeles. Alongside Wyle, the cast for the reading includes Katherine LaNasa, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Shabana Azeez, and Ayesha Harris. This production is part of the Foundation’s Retro Reads series, which utilizes scripts from the Shavelson-Webb Library to provide audiences with a unique look at the craft of screenwriting.

Both the Writers Guild Foundation and the Star Trek franchise share a history dating back to 1966. Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the iconic science fiction series, was an early board member of the Foundation.
