New Avengers: Doomsday Promo Art Teases Massive X-Men and Thor Crossover

Marvel fans have received an exciting new look at Avengers: Doomsday through promotional art that surfaced online over the weekend. The poster brings together several legacy X-Men actors alongside Chris Hemsworth as Thor in a single frame, teasing the massive crossover event heading to theaters this December.

A Mutant Reunion and a God of Thunder

The new poster features a menacing Doctor Doom looming in the background, while a row of mutants fills the lower half of the image. The lineup includes Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Notably, the art also provides the first official promotional appearance for Beast and Nightcrawler outside of previously leaked footage. This inclusion marks a significant throwback, as Alan Cumming has not portrayed Nightcrawler since 2003 in X2, while Kelsey Grammer returns to the role of Beast following his brief appearance in The Marvels.

Thor is positioned prominently on the right side of the poster, visually confirming that the God of Thunder will fight alongside the X-Men against the threat posed by Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The Avengers logo anchors the bottom of the art, effectively tying the mutant roster directly into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe event.

Building Toward the December Release

The release of this art follows the debut of an official Special Look at D23 on Friday. During the convention, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell presented a two-minute trailer that offers a deeper look at Doctor Doom’s rise. In the footage, Vanessa Kirby, who plays Sue Storm, describes the villain as lost and broken, while a later sequence shows Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards confronting Doom in a ruined setting.

The trailer also showcases Doom hurling Thor with ease and commanding an army of Sentinels. The sight of these iconic mutant-hunting machines under Doom’s control significantly raises the stakes for the X-Men, who have a long and storied history battling the robots. While some fans have speculated about the identity of the person behind the mask due to specific physical details seen in close-ups, Marvel has not addressed these theories.
