  1. We can argue semantics til the cows come home.

The fact is, some of us think they’re frickin’ awesome and some of us think they’re plain jane and nothing special. Whether they’re teasers or full-on theatrical one sheets is really unimportant. The question is, do they do something for you, and my answer is… Hell Yes!

When I first clicked over to the MySpace page and saw them I got a huge chill up my spine. I actually shivered. I then found the Michael Bay forum and downloaded the appropriate size for my screen and immediately set it as my wallpaper. I absolutely love the image and I think the message it conveys is a perfect set-up for the movie.

The bottom line is, if nothing has impressed you about the movie so far then your impression of these posters is probably going to follow suit. And if you’ve really liked most of the stuff so far, then… well, you get the picture. As far as the average movie-goer is concerned, I think it will intrigue them. I think it will work for them. Good vs Evil. It’s classic and it hits you on an emotional and subconscious level. Your insides say, “Holy Shit, These two metal beasts are gonna go at each other like a chainsaw goes at a tree”.

It works for me and I think it’s gonna work for a lot of people.

  2. these are not teaser posters….

a teaser poster for me would be a black background with a decepticon/autobot logo on it….a date..no title …..

or a shot of a building with a big giant robot shadow over it with just a date and maybe a little tagline..

“on july 4th……your childhood will be raped”

    something like that ….

leaving those of us who know what it is wanting more and those who do not curious…teasing…

these a just plain old movie posters…….

I guess it is a matter of your personal perception or definition but for me these are not teaser posters…..just theatrical posters

  3. “I’ll grant you that it’s not the most original idea, but it still looks wicked cool.”

    Aye, exactly Jay. :)

About Alfie saying they “unoriginal”. We’re still just in the teaser stage. They’re building up momentum before they really blow are minds. These posters do what they’re ment to do at this stage and nothing more. Tease us.

They give us a little tease that there very well could be some complexity to the Transformers cuz of the markings on they’re faces. It shows us how detailed they’re going to be, as far as the way they look, and gives us the idea that this is going to be all about them buting heads with each other threw most of the movie. That it is an action film and that it is all about a war.

Just like the Spider-Man 3 posters, trailers, and pics have just been teasing us with no real idea of what Venom is going to be like up until just latly.

For a while the teasers for it were so good, you couldn’t be sure if Venom was going to be in the movie or not. Even though everyone was saying he is going to be. And still with the final trailer out now, we have no real idea of what Venom is truly going to be like on film.

Point is Hollywood knows what it’s doing. They’re trying there best to suprise the hell out of us as much as possable. They want us to be in aww when we first see this film. We should just respect that and just let it happen the way it’s going to happen.

If we’re lucky we’ll get a new TF trailer that’ll be shown in April with Spider-Man 3 or Pirates 3. Maybe even before then. Who knows if we’ll get any better of an idea of how the Transformers will look like or sound.

But we shouldn’t think that if we don’t get a better idea from the next trailer, that this movie is going to suck. I do feel though and hope we’ll get to hear and see atleast 1 or 2 of the Transfomers speak in the next trailer, just cuz I’m dying to see that. :P But even if not, I’m still going to be they’re opening day. :)

  4. i didn’t criticize it jay…just merely pointing out that the posters when face to face like that (especially megatrons) looks a bit like the aliens vs predator posters….

I know that my role as resident transformers hater makes my opinion on anything invalid to a lot of you but surely some of you agree these posters are fairly ….. uninspired.

Not that they are “shit”..or “the worst ever”…or “awful”….just very bland…I felt like I had already seen them if you know what I mean….. They are just …. unoriginal. It is still early marketing wise but I am yet to see anything that will give it “the biggest opening of all time”…I have never claimed it would bomb – the thing will make a ton of money but then so does mcdonalds and jessica simpson but the thing I keep asking campea is does he still believe his claim that this will have the biggest opening of all time??

  5. Man as soon as i saw this picture, i started making a layout for my myspace….i had ot have it, i did it while i was at work…now it is my background on my myspace page and i f**king love it…..

  6. The early CGI renders of Prime that came out last year showing the front and back of prime also showed close-ups of his head in which he had a battle mode and a normal mode where the face plate was retracted.

    But,
I think I remember an interview with either Bay, DeSanto, or Murphy where one of them said that they are still deciding the mouth issue. I dont think it’s set in stone one way or the other.

    And trust me,
If you have read any of my posts concerning the Transformers movie you would know that I am completely on board this movie. I have been a huge supporter of it around here since day one.

  7. Oh, also about Prime’s face plate. I heard that it doesn’t come off in the film, that it does stay on the whole time and actualy is his “mouth”.

As far as I know fans are just thinking Prime too, like Megatron, has a normal mode and a battle mode. And so I think fans are upset that his face plate will reveal his mouth underneath, which they feel will look stupid.

But as far as I know Megatron is the only one with a “battle mode” where his face changes. Some people have pointed this out on the offical Michael Bay Transformers forum aswell. Fans are just jumping to conclusions too much. If you ask me it’s almost like they want the movie to suck or to suck to them atleast, which is just sad.

  8. Jeez…
Now even the posters arent up to your standards.

What’s a brother gotta do to make Alfie happy?

    In all honesty,
The retractable faceplate on prime that reveals an articulated mouth is, so far, the only thing that I dont like about this movie. No joke, I really think this decision was a mistake. It’s not one that will hinder my enjoyment of the movie, but it is something that I wish they had not done.

    Now,
For something that has gotten me very excited, I just read on a site called AllExperts.com that Michael Bay has confirmed that the movie starts out with a – SPOILER – battle on Cybertron.

    – allexperts.com/e/t/tr/transformers_(2007_film).htm –

    Here’s the part I’m talking about –

    – SPOILER WARNING –

“Michael Bay has confirmed that the movie starts out with a battle on Cybertron. It then moves to the Arctic Circle where a man accidentaly chips away a massive sheet of ice, then falls into the abyss. He then falls on a robotic hand that is half in- half out of ice. The man looks up and a face, appearing to be fixed into a scream, is seen in the ice. The man looks on the shoulder, on which the Decepticon emblem is seen.”

  9. I thought “AvP” for a sec too when I first saw it, but only for a sec. It’s still just ment to be a teaser poster. And it does an awsome job of showing us how freakin’ detailed they’re making the actual Transformers.

Also this movie is suppost to be all about giant robots beating the crap out of each other on earth, just like AvP was all about the Preds and Aliens beating the crap out of each other on earth. So I think this poster(s) conveys that very well. Simple and strait to the point, but still damn cool to look at. :)

  10. The posters do look like the ones for AvP, but that’s not the first time I’ve seen two opposing sides going head-to-head on a poster, so I don’t think we can say they ripped off AvP.

  11. “btw, what are those etched marks ?”

I think they’re etched markings of they’re own alien language, or maybe warrior markings. Either way kicks freakin’ ass! :) Suggests that the story might go into they’re culture and history.

  12. FUCKING AWSOME! Got me a new desktop wallpaper. :P God, it really is Transformers brought to life, alien robots never looked better. Look at that detail!

The glyphs on they’re faces kick ass. Gives you a real sence that this is an alien race with a real history. Makes you wonder just how far they’re going to get into Cybertron and all that.

    CAN…NOT…FUCKING…WAIT!!!

  13. Must I add that Prime looks like the monkey here (minus the colors of course) and that Megatron looks incredibly bad ass. If only that had been the first pic of him to be released…..I wouldn’t have hated it so much.

  14. looks great. my only owrry is how they will look when they speak. i hope its not too dumb.

also, are they going to have moving mouths or what. i hope not

  15. meh….cool poster but im not gonna say the movie will be great until i see more footage….what i saw didn’t really impress me and i cant get over megatron’s AWFUL design….i dont want to get all exited and have my hopes crushed like i suspect….as a hardcore fan….i HOPE it will be great….hope…

    preace…

  16. I don’t mean the voices being good or bad. I mean seeing the robots speaking, regardless of the voice.

As for Peter Cullen… I don’t know. The line they tacked on to the last trailer was horrible.

  17. i’m interested in seeing the movie, i’m just not excited about it. i know $h!t about transformers, other than they are robots that can turn into vehicles. but i have to admit them transorming is pretty cool sfx.

  18. hey henrik,
i see what you’re saying, but how could they go wrong with peter cullen and maybe hugo weaving voicing? man gio is gonna jizz and then pass out with excitement once they speak!

  19. More pretty pictures… This all depends on the second trailer. If they don’t prove they can make them talk without it being ridiculous, I have no faith in the movie.

  20. Okay. I’m trying like hell not to go overboard with high expectations. I did that with Pirates 2 and it bit me in the ass. Guarded optimism is the way to go:)

  21. I saw these posters earlier on ‘shootfortheedit.com’, they have hi-res versions over there and if you look closely there are strange glyphs/letters on their faces.
This film cannot come soon enough!

  22. That confusing bunch of metal lines is supposed to be Megatron’s face? I think I see Optimus Prime in there somewhere, with the blue and red, but are those supposed to be faces? Where are the actual Transformers that everyone loves?
