  1. John, as usual I couldn’t disagree more with your appraisal of a “5” for the movie Ghost Rider. I quite liked it, and that means I liked it more than either x-men or Spider-man movie. I have to agree about the sheer waste of Sam Elliot, that was inexcusable. But I thought they not only pulled of the flaming skull, they made it look like an exact real-life translation of what was in the comic.

  2. If the Wednesday and Friday shows are radio broadcasts, does that mean the humor will be toned down abit. eg, “on a mountain in Norway called… CHILD RAPE”

  3. supernatural is a good showa great show and smallville is a good show aswell and i have been getting into heroes its great but i like the office aswell its great show. i would like to see a dilbert movie but it depends and grindhouse movie is going to rule and what the hell was up with that teaser at the end of the podcast ?

  4. Whiile I gre up with a fondness for the ‘Peanuts’ gang, the comic strips of ‘Bloom County/Opus’ and ‘Calvin & Hobbes’ do rank. But why isn’t the obvious and most adaptable strip not in the top spots? Or hasn’t anyone heard of “Doonesbury”?

(Note: I’m also partial to B.C.)

By the way, I’m wondering. Now that the “name” of the Audio Edition is changing, what will happen to the Myspace page? While you can “change” the name, you cannot change the myspace page URL.

  5. I always knew I had a little Khan in me. :)

Calvin and Hobbes is the highest rung on the evolution of comic strips. Best ever. They ended it just at the right time, but of how I miss them. Thanks a lots John, now I have to run out to Barn and Nobel and buy all the book again.

  6. Speaking of Genghis Kahn….I’m a descendant of Attila the Hun (leader of the Hungarian mongrels) who conquered & slaughtered his way through most of central Europe and Asia in 406-453 A.D. ….. I’ve always wondered why I have violent tendencies… ;)

  7. this is a bit off-topic, but i’ve never been able to figure out what you’re saying at the very beginning of the podcast? “greetings citations” is what it sounds like to me :P

i know i’m going to feel pretty stupid when i find out what it really is…

  8. I just hope the Audio Edit–err, I mean the Uncuts on NowInLA (or whatever the site is) will be downloadable. I don’t mean streamable, I mean downloadable. I’ve only checked out HollywoodBabbleOn a few times and was disappointed that I didn’t find a way to put it on my iPod.

Gio–I mean John, I think I heard you insinuate that all Audi–I mean Uncuts would be downloadable, but it’d be nice if you could reaffirm this.

  9. Doug the movie you are talking about was
    “Hated: The Gigi Allen Story”

I remember seeing that a few years back and it scared me.

His band “Gigi Allen & The Murder Junkies” were fucked. Two things I remember distinctly from that film, He wipes his ass with a peeled banana and asks if anyone is hungry, flinging the remnants into the audience.

And you could see why he was so angry all the time. Either that or it was cold.

  10. This means that I have get to work early (it’ll be 8 am in the Philippines). The live show will be a lot of fun.

John, your lead up to that scene in Ghost Rider is almost enough to make me want to see the movie. Almost.

I don’t know how a Mummy 3 will play out – I didn’t enjoy the second film as much as the first but I’m keen to see Jet Li as a bad guy.

I’m so happy BSG will be around for another season but like you I’m hoping that they’ll wrap things up by the end.

  11. By the way I dont think Ghengis Khan had sex, he just raped and raped his way through his victims. The Mongols conquered, pillaged and raped their way through history. So you could say 1 in 6 people are decendents of rape victims!!!!!!!!! Just my thought of the day.

  12. Bad idea. You already established a brand with the Audio Edition. To re-brand now is a bad move, especially with that name. If you added anything, it should have been simply – The Movie Blog.com: Audio Edition. That way you keep the site name in the format, as well as what everyone has come to know it as.

  13. This is GREAT news.

As John already knows, I was a big participator on Hollywood Babble-on for a while. But then, college started up again, and I have class both days of Hollywood Babble-on.

NOW… Nowinla has The Movie Blog!!!!! ON A DAY WHEN I DON’T HAVE CLASS.

A dream come true. Way to go guys!

  14. I would hate it if anyone did a Calvin and Hobbes movie, there’s no way it would work in any medium besides a comic strip. Luckily Watterson is never going to sell the rights.

  15. Sorry John, but I must disagree about the best comic strip ever.
Although Calvin & Hobbes is the second best, the best ever is BLOOM COUNTY. Nothing beats it. Berkely Breathed is, as far as I’m concerned, the God of Comic Strips.
Calvin & Hobbes, I must admit, is fantastic though. It’s just not even in the same leage as Bloom County.

  16. Damn! I was just about to take you to task for citing Calvin and Hobbes as the best comic strip of all time (though I do love Calvin and Hobbes), but Nagy and Darren already beat me to it in naming Peanuts. Not only my favourite comic strip of all time, but probably my favourite work of art or entertainment.

  17. they all did it though..you can’t just blame cnn….all of them – fox, msnbc, cnn – the lot of them…

the spears thing is i kind of understand – she is one of the most famous pop stars in the world and she looks to be having some kind of public breakdown…does it deserve as much attention as it got – no way but i can see why it would make the news. it is very odd behaviour.

the 24/7 coverage of anna nicole smith’s passing however was ridiculous. she was famous for nothing. well she blew a rich guy but outside of that nothing.appearing on the cover of playboy is not special…..

but spears at least is famous for doing something….

  18. Mummy 3 will be a joke.
CNN is a joke for the way they covered Brit’s hair.
I saw Ghost Rider last Thurdsay at a free screening. Thank God it was FREE.

And I learned thanks to Nagy that I have a 1 in 6 chance of being related to an ancient raping war general. Cool.
