  1. And I heard that Natalie Portman was gonna play Indy’s daughter. There’s a million different rumors going around. I honestly hope this doesn’t get made.

  2. The Rose Bowl guys are from the 501st Legion. My friend Lucy in Ohio actually knows one of the guys who got to march with George. This guy is 32 years old, has a wife and kids, and he called my friend afterwards, sobbing like a bitch because he got to shake Lucas’s hand. Bitch:)

  3. Hey Malot,

If I were offered a role in a film with Morgan Freeman, I would obviously accept it… and THEN… accept the studios suggestion to go take acting lessons first, because I’m not an actor and recognize I’d need all the help I can get.

I don’t blame Timberlake for accepting a role. I balme him for being an arrogant ass and saying he doesn’t need lessons.

I blame the STUDIOS for ofering roles to people like me (or timberlake) in the first place.

    Cheers!

  4. John,
I don’t disagree with anything you said regarding Justin Timberlake, but I’ve got a cheeky question; what would you do if you were offered an acting role with Morgan Freeman?

  5. Tyler: there are scores of projects announced every year, but it does not always mean they will get done in the time frame projected. That is most true with Indy 4. They said they were ready to go a little over twelve years ago! Then they aren’t. In comes Altantis. Out goes Atlanis. Welcome Area 51, out goes Area 51.

That report is the one where Lucas said it’s going to happen (again); when asked about it yesterday it’s reported that he said something else. It is possible that they may start filming with what they have (but Spielberg would film a complete script than an incomplete one, as some directors recklessly do) but why contradict himself?

    Who’s On First?

  6. Rather than an epilogue Indy film, go with a reboot. Throw in Ford doing a cameo but recast the Indy role with Nathan Filion. He would rock in this role, pun intended, and revitalize the franchise at the same time.

    Yeah, Filion as Jones.

    I LOVE the idea.

  7. Hmmm, my comment was eaten up. Anyway here’s what I wrote:

Happy New Year! to The Movie Blog gang. Doug, get well soon.

I’m on the fence about there being an Indiana Jones 4 because I just don’t see how they would do the franchise justice and it could be a huge, huge letdown considering all the high expectations fans have.
BTW, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles featured stories of Indy as a young boy and as a teenager. Sean Patrick Flannery played the teen Indy.

Another shark movie would be great and the thought of a shark chomping on a boat is terrifying and cool at the same time. And I too thought Meg referred to Meg Ryan.

Chris Tucker is the highest paid actor EVER?! That just doesn’t make any sense at all. Seriously? Huh? Why is he sooooo essential to the Rush Hour series that execs threw a shitload of cash in his direction?

Justin Timberlake should just stick to singing. I’ll probably wait for Alpha Dog to come out on DVD to watch it.

And when is the Battlestar Galactica podcast coming? :)

  8. I hope Doug gets well soon.

    What’s that?
That’s all Sealer has to say?

Well, let’s see: I agree with John on Indy Jones (and the TV show had kid Indy, teen Indy [played by Boondock Saint Sean Patrick Flannery] and as as a eyepatched old guy who spun the yarns. They backed themselves into such corners with continuity; I say Lucas & co just get on with it, recast, or…yes, ditch it.

And get on with the sequel to **Willow** instead!

I agree with the non acting of Justin Timberlake (and BTW- Mark Walberg is great in ‘Invincible’) and he’s a cat that should stay away from movies. There are PLENTY of new and up and coming actors who busted thier ass in workshops and classes….

I want to see Meg. And more Meg Ryan. In fact, I want Meg Ryan to be in Meg. :p

Happy New Year One Day Later
    -Seeler

  9. Here is something I actually agree with John about, and wholeheartedly no less. Justin Timberlake is a hideous choice for ANY film, and he has NO BUSINESS whatsoever being anywhere near a film set. He is without skill, talent, or merit in his own “field of expertise”, so what makes him or anyone else think that he has any business being in a movie? Perhaps he thinks that dating an actress qualifies him to do so? Who knows, I’m sure it’s just a case of money talking and being a “name” in Hollywood opening doors for him. Either way, I hope this is the last time any such project utilizes him in way.

  10. The funny thing about Snakes on a Plane is that even though the studio didn’t allow advanced reviews, tons of critics ended up seeing it anyway – and they LIKED IT. 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, hardly something special for any old movie, but for one that didn’t hold advanced reviews, that’s fucking incredible. And it’s not just a couple… there are over 150 reviews, from real critics too. One of the strangest critical responses of the year. I don’t think you’re ever going to see a movie that isn’t shown in advance to critis get such good press from them on their own.

  11. They should have just backed off of Rush Hour 3..honestly, how good could Rush Hour 3 possibly be..i doubt it’ll even be rememberable..however a big shark movie could make a killing at the box office

  12. Wow, a show on New Year’s Day? You guys rule.

Thanks. Just another example of why this is the best podcast out there.

By the way, I watched a couple of movies on HD DVD (Batman Begins and V), as well as X3 on Blu-Ray. (About the only thing that I have done with my PS3 since picking it up in November.) They look GREAT, but I just can’t see either format taking off with the general non-geek public for years to come.

    Just my two cents.

Have a great 2007 Audio Edition crew!
