Wesley Snipes sues over Blade: Trinity?

blade3.jpgFor a little while there was hope for another Blade. The talk was that Trinity was not so well received and the idea for the spin of series of Nightwalkers was scrapped. Oh joy we thought, a return to the real Blade. Perhaps not now thanks to Wesley Snipes if this story from Comic Book Movie is indeed true.

Blade star Wesley Snipes reportedly is suing New Line Cinema for $5 million, alleging the studio didnt live up to its contract to give him final say on the screenplay and director choice for Blade: Trinity (a swipe at David Goyer). Snipes also says that the studio owes him $3.6 million of a promised $13 million up-front fee, according to E! Online.

Bad news indeed, if that is true then there would be enough bad blood there to halt any vampire, or vampire killer, in their tracks. No more Blade from there on I would think. Not with New Line anyway. What does he think he’s doing, and what would it achieve? If he could negotiate another Blade, then negotiate on the poor returns of Trinity and say it was because his involvement was lesser and he needs more control again, surely that would be a better ending than more cash and a embittered studio?

  1. Wesley Snipes did the best job of portraying a comic book character that I have ever seen. It was the poor screenplay and directing that ruined 2 and 3. The first Blade was by far the absolute best…2 was poor written and directed and the villians were cheesy as well as the blood pack. Trinity had a chance…but as soon as I saw Jessica Biel in it…I knew it was doomed. Her perfomance sucked ass…I loved the movie up until her appereance. Ryan Reynolds did an awesome job and Snipes delivered the entire way. The story went downhill when all the other characters of the new Whistler team (I forgot their call sign) came into the movie. That and Dracula was a pitiful portrayal. He is supposed to be the most powerful vampire out there and blade was able to kill him without being killed himself…yeah right. Snipes is right…give him the power and we can be ensured a great movie.

  2. i think blade 4 should be directed with petas jackson or someone good wesley snipes should do another movie cuz he is so dam good at it F*** the media do a movie every one will watch it put new monsters make them good and suprise us some how shit they r being paid millions they should of do something amazing with blade 4 it better be blade 4 and not so much of those night ppl they should be limited

  3. Goyer is NOT a fucking director. Shite, he is barely a writer. All three Blade movies were the same movie. I was surprised that Goyer didn’t have Blade yet again taken down by electricity, then go nuts with the Drunken Master blood frenzy. WTF? The man kicks ass into infinity, yet you can take him down with a Duracell? Goyer’s work is filled with implausibilities, but the action pulled it through. I don’t know what he thought he was doing with ‘Trinity’, but that shite sucked balls.

Snipes seems like the type of guy with a very strong vision that wanted something more for his character then New Line was willing to give. Goyer was out for himself. If Snipes and Norrington (director of the first movie) could have gotten along, Blade would have been unstoppable.

Oh well, water under the bridge. I hope Goyer never touches another superhero flick again. Bad enough he’s got Batman Begins and Ghost Rider on his plate. Go write for TV or something, man.

About that Snipes paternity suit, he has been completely exonerated. The woman was nuts. More info here.

  4. I would rank the movies in this order: Blade 1, Blade 3, Blade 2. I thought Blade 2 was the worst of the three. The “monsters” were cheesy at best, and the storyline was a little boring. Just my opinion.

  5. I don’t know. From the start of pre-production on Blade 3 it sounded like he was getting the shaft and I think he’s just standing up for what he was promised…

    I still haven’t seen 3 yet but I guess it’s on dvd soon…
