Soo why did you want 'Social Network' to win over 'King's Speech' again? Social Network occurred in more recent times and * it * was historically inaccurate too and they freely admitted to it. It was the biggest debate of that film, in spite of the good writing and acting involved.

Yes, if they take a living (or dead) person, make him into an uncaring slacker-villain, when he is anything but, make up stuff about the guy and his motivations, I would consider that historically inaccurate. Wouldn't you?

I think that the biggest upset of Oscar Night was Tom Hooper winning for Best Director. I saw both the King's Speech and The Social Network and David Fincher should have won in my mind. In lesser hands, The Social Network would have been a movie about a guy creating a computer program. However, in David Fincher's hands, it was a movie about greed, loyalty, and our current society. He also got three great performances out of Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. I knew it was a great movie when I forgot that Justin Timberlake was a pop-star. I know the Academy likes to award Best Director to the Best Picture winner, but COME ON?!

no Roman... Mystic said Inception didnt win Original Screenplay, which was why he was disappointed. You questioned him saying "how can something based off of a book be an original screenplay"

He was talking about Inception. Which is not based on a book, so like the Winner King's Speech, it was in the category of Best Screenplay.

The Social Network won best ADAPTED Screenplay (being that its based on an existing novel) and did not compete at all against Inception in those categories.

I know that Rodney I was agreeing with xMYSTIKJOKERx, Social Network won the award right? That movie was based on a book called The Acidental Billionaire (am i right?) I was rooting for Inception which was original while 3 of the nominees were books.

There may have been a few minor disagreements here and there, but I thought the Oscar results were all reasonable. There was nothing particularly egregious about the night (save maybe the hosting), I would have preferred either Social Network or Black Swan for Best Pic and Best Director, but I thought King's Speech was close to them in both regards. The only issues I had with King's Speech was the writing -- while the script, written by a stutterer, absolutely nailed the major issue of the movie (stuttering), it completely flopped on any sort of historical accuracy in ways that were so obvious it utterly broke my suspension of disbelief. It was still a good movie, but the stuff they threw in there that were historically inaccurate just didn't need to be there -- it did little for the story. They should have just eliminated the Winston Churchill character from the movie altogether.

Just glad Christian Bale and Natalie Portman won, love both of them as actors. It'll take a miracle for Nolan to finally win one. He'd have to direct and write a hell of a film to get a win. He'll probably get a lifetime achievement award at the end of his career.
