Hamm would OWN as a more manly and mature looking Superman. This film will basically be a one shot Superman film due to the rights issues involving the WB’s and the Siegals.

After this Superman due for release in December 2012, we probably won’t be seeing Superman onscreen again until maaaaaaaybe 2015, in the potential Justice League film!

If Keaton can play a Batman in 1989, and Downey Jr can play a fit Iron Man in his 40’s, and since Hugh Jackman is still playing Wolverine at 40…..a charismatic and talented actor like Jon Hamm would be a solid Superman. He would just need to bulk up and get in Superman shape.

I’m having a tough time believing Hamm in tights and a cape, flying around in the sky. I’d like Hamm in just about any movie… I’m not sure I’m buying this one.

I wonder if The Town will factor into this at all — ie if it does really well and Hamm gets big buzz out of it, maybe this seals the deal, or if it tanks… maybe we get someone else. The thing is… Hamm’s a great actor and leads the best show on TV, but only a fraction of the country watches Mad Men and a lot of people haven’t even heard of it, even in this day and age. Whether Hamm can anchor and sell tickets at a movie is still a huge question.

Why does Superman always have to be a young man? He’s 39, not 109, his age shouldn’t be an issue. He doesn’t look that old.

I just wonder how his Mad Men duties might play into him getting the role. Mad Men doesn’t shoot too many episodes, but timing might be an issue.

If they cast Tom Welling it will be a Smallville movie. They wont.

And Brandon Routh isn’t being considered. They are offering him a token chance at the role, but they will have hundreds auditioning that could prove to do it better and not confuse the audience.

Hamm would be good for an Alex Ross type Superman. Much older mature and established.

I’m all for Jon Hamm as Supes. I think he fits the mold of an “Alex Ross” type Superman. I think it’s high time that a Superman of that mold be seen on the big screen.

Jon Hamm would own this role. 39 is not old at all, for Superman you need to be seasoned to be believable. Look at RDJ, he was 42 for the first Iron Man

hamm migght be good, but the superman character has always been an unknown fresh face actor, and they should choose someone new for the reboot in my opinion.
