Apparently from what I am reading there will be no DVD release now or in the forseeable future in the US (Canada only). Is this just another way to get everyone to switch over to the blu ray format and then buy their favorite movies again and again. Bummer! Capitalism at its finest I guess !!??!!

Modern films don't actually burn (it use to be a huge problem, watch Cinema Paradiso to see what use to happen with the old type of film stock) but what does happen is that the film can become jammed and because of the heat from the Xenon bulb that projects it onto the screen the film actually melts. This happen to me once... it was very bad and there was no way to fix the film it time for the next show.

In reply to Joe Taormina. I kind of see what you're saying. But honestly, I loved Death Proof so much and I thought his extended cut was something that made me appreciate the movie even more. I think it would've been better for an extended cut to come out after the fact...and not the true theatrical experience, this late in the game. But yeah, he did use the extended cut at different film festivals.

Finally!! The release we should’ve gotten from the get go! This was a great experience in theaters and nothing upset me more than people stupid enough to complain it was too long (it’s 2 movies, you douchebags!)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember that it was all Taratino’s doing that the films were released separately as DVDs. Didn’t he re-cut Deathproof and enter it in one or more festivals? It’s something that always bothered me and I couldn’t agree more that it completely went against the overall grindhouse experience that was the original intent of the films…

Our movie theater experience was AWESOME. I took the family and a bunch of my daughters friends to the midnight showing. All fun because I’m really and truly afraid of Zombies (it’s why I have dogs that sleep on the floor – make sure they don’t come up under the bed or come and get me when I’m in the shower). But towards the end of Planet Terror our film burned. It so looked like part of the real movie that nobody thought otherwise – until after 10min of the film not coming back on I went out and asked about it. Sure then it was ruined – and I didn’t know film could ‘burn’ or whatever it was (but it started in one of the corners and moved to the entire screen).
I’ve been awaiting this BluRay since it was announced that it would someday be a complete film. Maybe they’ll have a burn mark!
