  1. where is the real doug nagy and what have you done with him??

He rails against racism without a punchline…he condemns the dirty talking childrens doll???

    what is going on here??

  2. Love the convo about racism. True that u’re all just a bunch of white guys that have probably never experienced racism lol. But what counts are the intentions. Nice one, guys. Great comments about racism from Doug and Bruxy.

  3. Nagy, the vag is shaved. I can’t find a pic of it, but if you go onto IMDB and look under roger rabbit alternate versions, they talk about it there. Apparently, two animators who were pissed off about something did it as revenge, and got fired because of it.

  4. Bruxy you tell them. Apocalypto is one if not the best film of the year for me so far. Easily the greatest period piece I’ve seen in years and just fucking amazing. He is right about the action it’s fantastic and the foot chases are riveting. If you have the time you have to see this film there is nothing else like it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Yes at first I was puzzled at what I was watching but it quickly became a great film for me so for its a 9 out of 10 and definate Routh.

  5. i see both sides of the MPAAs argument that you shouldn’t be able to convert dvds to put on your ipod.

If you are able to convert it into a file that you put on your ipd what stops your friends from coming around and putting it on theirs?
It is the exact same thing as copying a dvd for friends.
So I can see why they want it stopped but what they should be looking into is a way that it is somehow registered for your ipod specifically so you can’t dish it out to anyone you want.

As for kids getting prosecuted for downloading….Sure it is silly as they are kids but I just think if you break the law and get caught thats too bad. The law might be silly but the law is the law.
thats like complaining when you get a speeding ticket – you might not think the limit is high enough and that you can safely drive in that area faster than the law says you should but if you get caught you have to suck it up and accept it…..

Its the law that is silly perhaps but not the people enforcing it. If you break a law and get caught then you have to face the consequences regardless of your age or how dumb the law is. I think weed being illegal is silly but if someone gets caught with it and gets busted those are the risks….thats also part of what makes doing illegal shit exciting isn’t…drinking always seemed much better when I wasn’t old enough…..

  6. Thats AFI list is really really fucked. No way were some of them movies be on that list.

Here are my top 10 so far of 2006 in no order.

    1. Clerks 2
    2. V for Vendetta
    3. Superman Returns
    4. Borat
    5. London
    6. X-Men 3: The Last Stand
    7. Cars
    8. Snakes On A Plane
    9. Just Friends
    10. Little Miss Sunshine

Yes it was a very disapointing year for movies.

  7. Speaking of Roger Rabbit, there’s a scene where there’s a shot up Jessica Rabbit’s dress after her car crashes and she’s spinning around on the pavement, and if you freeze frame it, you’ll see her vag.

  8. ARRGHHH!

I totally disagree about United 93 with you John! It is my third favorite film of the year, and I think that if 9/11 never happened, and this film were still made… it’d be not only AS compelling, it would be even more compelling because you wouldn’t know how it would end.

  9. Disney women are all mindless sluts, except for Belle. That’s my hero right there:)

And Disney has a history of weird shit. The Little Mermaid original VHS tape box art has a golden penis on the cover. Aladdin has a scene where Aladdin asks Jasmine to take her clothes off. And of course, the infamous SEX in Lion King.

  10. Amazing show guys! The fact that you guys talk about real life issues that movies bring up, instead of just the movies themselves is one of my favorite things about this show! Your chat on racism was amazing and really balanced. Just one of the reasons I’m a Audio Edition fan 4 Life!!!

    Love you guys!

  11. Acctuly having consulted boxofficemojo, it was limited release on dec 30, which was the last friday of 2005, it wasn’t untill a month later on January 27 that it was put into wide release. That said it was a great movie.

  12. “The Matador” was given a limited late December **2005** theatrical release.

“Slither” should have gotten an honorable mention by the AFI; that’s spot on. I’d also include Michael Gondry’s ‘Science Of Sleep’, “Prestige’ and ‘Casino Royale’. But about ‘Slither’ : regarding pre-teen kids getting whacked in horror/sci fi films: see Jaws, Alligator, Night Of The Living Dead, Mimic, and there was a B movie Fangoria put out in the late 80’s called Mindwarp. where a small kid is dumped into a meat grinder. A Dog gets killed in Alien3; and (offscreen) The Lost World Jurassic Park.
    ************
It’s…ABOUT TIME Doug went back on his fuckin’ rant…

I don’t think levees on blank CDs & DVDs would work, and besides…there are people who use these things for legal purposes. Let’s say you download a whole bunch of music off itunes, and on top of that, they happen to be songs/an album which you had bought at one point in your life when vinyl was in and/or cassette…are you *really* stealing from the music industry?

What about folks who have to transfer VHS and film reels? Have pernament copies of files, because you want to save computer space?

What about folks who get digital HDV tape/cameras to shoot home films, or, gosh, what a concept, a down n dirty DV indie film? Are you ripping off the film industry? FUCK NO.
In fact, you are trying to contribute…y’know. If the movie industry which I love wants to charge me for making my short film, well, shit on that. Gimmie the crane and the fuckin’ dolly tracks while you’re at it. Fuck your oscar.

    -so not Alan Smithee,
    The Sealer

  13. Yea!! Mdean the Wire season finale was INSANE!! Poor Randy….Michael is a G….and fuckin Namond is the one that gets out. NO JUSTICE!

On the audio edition Doug said the most profound thing on their, “if someone says a racist thing, they should be called on it” nice Doug. Very good conversation fellas And I feel good that a post I was involved was mentioned on the audio edition. Read the whole conversation John, it was pretty cool.

And once again the 300 trailer was VERY, VERY sweet.
Loving the themovieblog wish I can come up to Canada.
    peace

  14. the office and the wire are better than heroes….im interested in battlestar galactica but ive never seen it. i dont want to come in and be lost, do you recommended this to a rookie? good post John.
    peace..

  15. Happy feet has the weirdest message for a kids film in 2006. Animals, environment…Fuck them,…oh….wait a minute…CUTE ANIMALS…We better save them.

Dennis Leary was right, there is probably some insight into that message.

  16. Before someone else steals it from me, I hereby rename Apocalypto to “MAYAN ON FIRE” – Fist-pumping vengeance and easy emotional manipulation are the order of the day here. It’s compulsively watchable though…
