  2. I’m going to chime with the thumbs up for ‘Fist Of Legend’. A fantastic film, one of Jet Li’s best, and a remake to boot! I’d recommend this to anyone who likes martial arts. It’s such a shame no one in Hollywood has made better use of Jet Li – such a talented guy.

  3. Crispin Glover in ‘Back to the Future’ > Heath Leadger in anything-he’s-ever-done x 8.34

‘My Super Ex-Gril Friend’ is the perfect name for this film given when it’s coming out: in the midst of a super-hero movie blockbuster summer. I for one was fooled.

Radical, dude! Pizza! Maybe they’ll get MC Vanilla Shamhammer to do a cameo.

Brilliant show as always, chaps. – Cheers!

  4. Yeah John I don’t know. I was trying not to come off as a jackass, which is kind of hard when you say something like that. Whatever, you can do what you want I guess… I’m still listening and I wouldn’t want to be a hipocrit.

  5. Adrien Brody would make an awesome Joker. He’s got the perfect Joker chin, add some white makeup and you have an exact duplicate of what Brian Bolland drew in the Joker graphic novel “Killing Joke”.
John………..Have you ever thought of doing a “live” Audio Edition of the Movie Blog? and take calls/IM’s? You’d have to give listeners a head’s up on what time you’d do it. Would Skype provide you with the technology to take multiple calls from around the world? I don’t know.

  6. I like the Spidey movies but I really want Raimi to do something else too. I’m not especially hyped up about Spidey 3 but I’m sure it’ll rock. It’s just not gonna be anything new. But as for the “There’s not that many great stories we want to tell” angle, that’s bullshit. Spider-man’s been going for about 50 years. There are bloody loads of good stories.

They could even take a few risks of their own and scrap this boring superhero movie formula that’s been in place since Superman: The Movie. With the introduction of Venom they could go fucking bonkers in movie 4, offing characters right and left, maybe even letting us see Peter’s emotional side (his REAL emotional side, not his quivering-lip “I want a puppy” Star Wars-prequel-emotion side). I really want to see a superhero fucking lose it. Why do they have to look so cool all the time? The closest they’ve come is with Bana in Hulk and that bit with Superman screaming as they drag him across the rocks.

They should only do number 4 if they’re gonna do something completely new with it.

  7. i love memento but dont like insomina that much but he is a good director so yeah but the thing with heath as joker not a good idea until they a offically make this real then i think this is just rummors

  8. Henrik,

Get a grip. If you can’t tell I’m tring to just joke around with the plugs… good grief.

And besides… there is a MASSIVE difference between being self serving “IE. Sham-Hammer writting himself in the role of the writer who will save the world in his own movie” and promoting your film… which is what every director/actor/producer is SUPPOSED to do. Jeezzee.

    :)

  9. First, Louis Leterrier durected the second Transporter and was more of a second unit (or as he’s billed, “Artistic Director”) on the first film; Cory Yuen directed the first film.

    {and yes, Sealer does hope for a Transporter 3 one of these days…}

But I do like the choice of director for The Hulk.

I still think there should be a Spidey 4 with or without Maguire or Raimi should they choose not to do it; however, I’m wondering if either a) Venom might be more of a spinoff character or b) the spinoff character might be the ‘secret’ villian. [Lizard? Morbius?]

On the same token, there are several heroes Marvel has down the turnpike: aside from Spidey and Hulk, we got Iron Man, Ant-Man, Thor, Wolverine, and god knows what else- and that’s just Marvel. Spidey and X-Men opened the floodgates. Maybe they have served thier purpose. Maybe if 3 is a slam dunk it is best to end on a high note.

Still, I would not want a ‘4’ in ten years. I agree with Doug: five, if not less.

And you know where I stand on the ‘lack of creativity’ thing, John. I think you compare apples to celery sticks. Having a string of remakes for no good reason whatsover is not the same as sequels. Like me on this issue you are neither right nor wrong; it is just a difference of opinion. Then again, I’m not as “vocal” as most on the issue, because I think it stems more from filmmakers and studios doing the retreads…only to drop the ball.

It seems the TV to movies thing works best in the suspense-action genres. In fact, I’m looking forward to a certian film next week…the film which I think will dethrone Pirates.

But, you guys have a point about Shalhammer- I hear talk and buzz about “Miami Vice’. I hear talk of ‘WTC’. I hear good word on the horror film ‘Descent’. We all know about the Snakes film. I think ‘Water’ will come in at 3, but it sure as heck won’t beat ‘Monster House’ or ‘Pirates’.

I have not heard scrap about M Night’s film, and with the exception of Signs, his films have not impressed me, interested me, and when the surprise in Sixth Sense came along, I said ‘So what?’. I was more drawn in by the underrated ‘Stir Of Echoes’ which ran along the same themes and was released around the same time as ‘Sixth Sense’.

Still talkin’ bout the T movie eh?

  10. You know I’m a fan. But you ‘accuse’ or at least back the argument that Shyamalan is self-serving… But you’ve mentioned your documentary in the last zillion podcasts.. I realize the site is a unique opportunity to market it, but keep it classy, instead of just dropping it in conversations that don’t relate in any way (ie. Spider-Man 4).

  11. I have come to terms with Ledger POSSIBLY being the Joker. The reason I say this is cause it seems he was only officially offered the role. I expect the official announcement soon though. I am actually warming up to the idea…It could be worse.

  12. Hav4e you seen the new Turtle-show. It actually very good. Some of the things they have done has shocked me. they actually chopped the head of Shredder(there is a twist there i won’t tell). And i don’t think TMNT has been rated so it might still be PG-13

  13. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

For the mememnto and Insomnia shout out….

I hate people who rave about Nolan with only seeing Batman

  14. If you havent already, listen to the audio on superherohype.com, concerning the TMNT movie at comic-con. The director and the producer are both on the panel and they touch on the comedy aspect a little. It eased some of my fears concerning the possibility of the TMNT movie being too campy.

  15. I have to agree completely with you on “Fist Of Legend”, John. Absolutely, positively, without a doubt the singlr greatest kung-fu movie ever made. Master Woo-Ping and Jet-Li seriously need to team up again. They also did “Once apon a time in China 2” together but it wasnt as good. Too many weopons, not enough hand to hand. But yeah, the scene in “Fist Of Legend” where he goes into the rival school and takes on all the other students. OH MY GOD!!! The best fight scene in a kung-fu movie ever. Period. Seriously, if you like kung-fu, see this movie!!
