  1. I can pass on the fact that you’re cheering for Italy but England? WTF is that? Portugal baby! PORTUGAL!!

As for movie related stuff. I enjoyed Tokyo Drift simply because we talked through the whole thing. It was the best audio commentary yet and i still think we should have taped it. Surprised they didn’t boot us out of the theatre. We were freakin’ loud! Listening to Doug lose it was enough encouragement to have you guys watch crappy movies.

    Another great edition!

  2. Despite all of these good reviews (- Ebert and some others) I’m still a little skeptical about this one. This romance with a kid – business sounds like a big mistake to me. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Henrik: As for Conan… “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!”

That alone makes it a great movie ;)

As for lack of action and storyline… I thought there was plenty of great action and did not think the storyline was incoherent at all.

The first Conan is possibly the best example of this genre.

  3. I bet Guus Hiddink won’t be complaining that much because in 2002, South Korea (Guus was managing them at that time, football fanatics should know this) beat Italy undeservedly.

  4. Italy, like most teams on the continent, suffers from ostiperosis and can’t stay on their feet!!! Watch the friggin replay! The Aussi didn’t EVEN TOUCH HIM!!!! That’s the game. So be it. But Italy didn’t win because they deserved it. They got lucky.

  5. John,

Enjoy listening to the podcast – from all the way down here in NZ – as we don’t have an itunes store here, can’t help you feature on the itunes page. sorry.

yet to listen to this episode – but after last week when you and doug were ranting about HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, I thought this link summed it all up quite nicely:

hmm… not a very exciting post for my first time, but what the hell.

  6. I’m in a pissy mood because my sound controller device was unistalled, so I have to wait till tomorrow to buy a cd to reinstall it. :( I wanted to hear Doug freak out…

  7. I actually bought Conan the Barbarian this past week to see what all the fuss was about with these ‘bring the barbarian movies back’-rants on various editions of audio. Gotta say I pretty much feel the same way about Conan as you do about Fast and the furious. There is hardly ANY action at all! The movie is over 2 hours long, with maybe 15-20 minutes of action in it.

I will give it that the action that is there is pretty cool. Snake people rule, and the crucifiction is pretty fucking badass. But apart from a few scenes, it felt like I was watching 2001 without the intelligence. I’m pretty sure that other than 2001 this movie has the least dialogue and the most incoherent plotline ever.

So if there are any Conan fans out there, any help you can give me to appreciate this supposed classic of the genre would be appreciated, since the genre itself has so much potential. I mean crucifictions, snake people and huge fucking swords could be so much better.

  8. The commentators were saying it was a disgraceful decision! …
Oh well, we did a lot better than expected. GOOD PLAY YOU SOCCEROOS!!!
    ….
Oh well, at least I can say we did better than Canada … Do they even have a side? ;)

  9. ITALAINS CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT! THERE WAS NO PENALTY THERE JOHN! MAY I SAY THAT THE ITALIANS ARE REKNOWNED FOR MATCH FIXING!!!! COINCEDENCE HMMMMM ….. LUCAS NEILL DID NOT EVEN TOUCH FABIO GROSSI … THERE WAS NO PENALTY!! …. IF ANYTHING HE STEPPED ON NEIL’S FACE …

  10. OK John, You were right … I was wrong. Click did not make $50 Million opening weekend, but it was not far off. And in my defence, I would like to say that boxofficeprophets.com & boxofficemojo.com had the flick estimated at just under $50 million and stated that Sandler could have his first $50 Million dollar hit over the weekend.

But … it was not to be … you win a tally point this time my friend, til next time….
