X-Men 97 Episode 4 Recap and Review

*Spoilers ahead for episode 4 of X-Men 97*

In X-Men 97 episode 4, titled “Motendo,” the X-Men face a unique challenge that blends nostalgia with danger. Jubilee, eager to celebrate her 18th birthday, is disappointed when Magneto insists the team focus on their training instead of festivities. However, Roberto consoles her, and they are surprised to find a new “Motendo” video game console in her room. This seemingly innocent gift transports them into a video game world based on Jubilee’s past adventures.

In this digital world created by the alien Mojo, Jubilee relives her missions, initially enjoying the experience. However, with the help of Abscissa, an older digital copy of herself from the game’s beta version, Jubilee realizes that living in the past would be an empty existence. Together, Jubilee and Roberto manage to defeat Mojo and return to reality, with Jubilee gaining a new perspective on her future.

X-Men 97 Episode 4 Review:

Forge and Storm’s Parallel Journey

Meanwhile, Forge takes Storm to his ranch, attempting to restore her powers using a machine he designed. Although the initial attempt appears to fail, Storm notices a mysterious owl, later revealed to be the demon Adversary. When Forge admits his role in creating the technology used by their enemies, Storm leaves in anger. However, she soon returns to the ranch to confront the Adversary, who poisons Forge.

Storm’s struggle culminates in a tense showdown in a cave where she discovers a rare cactus needed to cure Forge. Overcoming her fears, she regains her powers and defeats the Adversary, saving Forge and solidifying her resolve.

Final Thoughts

“Motendo” offers a refreshing blend of nostalgia and character development. Jubilee’s adventure in the digital world and Storm’s battle with her past make for a compelling episode.
