"Imagine if a Soul Food sequel would be trashed by a critics for being 'too Tyler Perry.'”

Good point - Does Tyler Perry know how much he is hurting the Black film industry? I'm excited to see this movie, I love these actors. Black films should be judged on their own merit and not become stained by the ill-attempts at a movie by other film makers.

Very insightful post, one I whole-heartedly agree with. As of now, most studios (and critics) idea of diversity is casting a black actor to play a traditionally white character in a comic book movie. Hopefully, this is changing so that not only African-Americans, but plenty of other ethnicities have their experiences portrayed across all genres.
