I love Gerard Butler and Jamie Fox. I didn’t like White House Down. I Olympus Has Fallen the president comes across as someone I would have let die. He was weak from the scene where he broke bunker protocol. I have watched it about ten times. I think it was a great movie despite the president.

With white house down, I found the initial attack to be less plausible, primarily because most planes would have been shot down long before it made past the bay into a populated area, especially a large cargo plane.

I saw Olympus has Fallen, and I definitely think it’s better. I haven’t seen WHD yet, but I cheated and peaked at the wikipedia page to see if the plot was the same, and the plot summary alone makes me cringe. Yeah, the strength and success behind the terrorist attack in OHF was a little hard to believe, but at the same time, the plot itself was pretty tight and mostly believable for me. I don’t even want to attempt to watch White House Down.

Great review! I think I like WHD more for it’s comedy but I definitely appreciate the direction and story choices of OHF more though.

Olympus has fallen does it for me yes, but I loved the comedic side of “White house down”. Jamie Foxx in his Jordan’s was a great candidate in playing the president with a lil’bit of humour. though Olympus has fallen! still takes the cup for me regardless.

Combat v/s heavy artillery v/s Humour.

White House down is better because its cooler funny, and it has way more terrorists destroying the White House. Or taking over, whatever. However Olympus has fallen is serisos and boring to me. I don’t like it that much

White House down is way better because its cool. Olympus has fallen, rotten eggs to me. But White House down is better and cooler. Plus the weapons are even stronger and umm yeah

I saw both films within a few days of each other. I don’t remember which I saw first. For me, Olympus Has Fallen was way way better, in every way. White House Down was Swiss Cheese. I could detail further, but it’s already been explained above, and talked about below the above above. OHF>WHD. NO QUESTION. The reviewer was correct. Not in my opinion. I would say that history will prove me right, but I doubt history will remember WHD. OHF will always be the go to White House attack film.

Great compare/contrast. I just watched Olympus Has Fallen last night on Netflix. Now I want to watch the other film and do a compare/contrast even if it hurts. I liked the premise of Olympus Has Fallen a tiny bit, but the improbability took a lot away from the movie. Both the idea that it would be so easy to both take the White House & kidnap the President with leverage to boot. Add the idea that 1 guy was able to neatly and violently take everyone out, barely get hurt, and save the President. Sorry! No dice! I did like that you pointed out the grittiness made it a bit more believable. I agree. The kid should have either helped more or escaped through tunnels on his own, or both.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The problem is something not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy that I came across this during my hunt for something relating to this.

I like White House Down more, it just engage me more. Through it could have done better with arms plot and peace treaty.

Olympus has fallen just felt way to predictable to me. The only bit I did like was when the evil villain says said he predicted it would take 15 minutes to take the white house, they did it in 13.

I also think Olympus attack plan was more realistic of the scenario. NK had access to next generation defence equipment, air defence and drones, we can presume that the aircraft they flew America had radar jamming technology that only failed when it got to Washington DC.

In both I wish we got more of the story surrounding the events, arms dealers and NK and SK conflict. Both felt incomplete to me.
