The guy is a wack job, and not sure “mental illness” can account for it if you take everything into a account – not just a few racist diatribes. Normally what happens in an actors personal life doesn’t mean squat with me. With Mel it’s been a bit different for some reason – I don’t buy that he’s a prescription away from being a well adjusted guy.
That said, yes I do miss “the old” Mel.

Gibson fits the role and I was glad he’s back. I agree, some things are over the top, but that’s fine by me. However, it is not just another “expendables, action-packed” movie.

It’s a shame people can’t separate Mel’s private life with his professional life.  We all have personal demons we struggle with, yet it’s because of Mel’s celebrity status his demons are exposed.  I feel bad for him in that respect.  
I want to see Mel’s Viking film happen.  I’m a Scandinavian American and absolutely love my heritage.  I’d kill just to be an extra in it.
