Mondo Poster: Toy Story

The guys over at Mondo are famous for making posters for movies that are occasionally better than what is officially created and put out by studios. They also at times capture a moment, emotion, or visual summation of relevance for the film in which they’re interpreting in poster form that is just downright beautiful to see. Personally I think that they can be very hit or miss but something about this poster made me want to share:

Something about that look on Woody’s face is just so endearing. It keeps drawing my eyes back to his and makes me wonder… what the hell is that cowboy staring at?! Very cool. Very very cool and yes, it belongs in my fictional TMB office. On a wall. By my ceiling windows where it can get plenty of sunlight.

  1. Not to be overly critical, but Buzz’s leg is in front of the string holding up the planet, but the jetstream is behind the plant. I reckon though that he is looking at Buzz.

    1.  @gandalf83 Thanks Gandalf! Do I watch movies? Actually i have them optically projected directly into my brain. Who has time to watch anymore?

And the play on words was to highlight the faux ‘flatness’ of the image. He took a 3 dimensional film and made it look like a paper cut out!

And if you wanna be hyper critical, cuz you know… it’s fun!, sans reference of watching the film you’d notice that Buzz actually appears to be “behind” woody. His little jetpack stream is behind the walkie talkie on the desk which is, based on perspective, behind Woody. Could be a simple mistake, could be completely intentional to encourage discussion such as this.
