Trailer: The Giant Mechanical Man

In my opinion Indie films are the heart of film-making. There is a common phrase among actors/actresses in Hollywood, “One for the studio, one for me”, meaning that a lot of times to do a film they want to do, they have to do a film for the studios to either pay the bills or redeem a favor. Indie films are an area where these artists tend to flock to in order to appease their need for creativity and to remember why they’re in the business. This trailer today caught my eye and I’m hoping I may get to see another side of Jenna Fischer‘s abilities as an actress. Take a look at the trailer for The Giant Mechanical Man below.

I know that it is just the trailer but I’m going to make a preemptive vote of confidence in this film. It has an established cast list and all are playing what seem to be very dynamic roles. A strong theme that I see with this film is individuality and I think a lot of people are going to be able to identify with that. Having Chris Messina representing individuality and Topher Grace representing a leader of conformity, I think the film has a chance to establish a very strong protagonist and antagonist. I’m going to keep an eye on this film, I already feel drawn to the characters.

About Ryan

First and foremost, Ryan Brown is a fan. He has been an avid fan of both the theater and cinema since an early age and his passion for both has been continually growing ever since. When dissecting a film, he focuses on all elements of film-making including some fan/cult factors. He believes that character development is the foundation of a good film and usually starts his analysis of a film from there moving forward. His writing style may be influenced by his background of narrative and argumentative studies in the subject, but he tends to enjoy a more conversational style to better interact with the readers, unlike some other pretentious and pompous writers.

  1. Oh by the way about Indie films. From experience I know no community more supportive for those who work within it than the Indie film community. I distinctly remember at one time expressing my interest in making a film (it wasn’t serious) and almost immediately someone offered to help me get the right crew and cast for the movie. I had to pass…because hell, I had no intention of plunging into the biz, not as a producer anyway.

So yeah, Ryan, I trust that Indie producers much as they also want to make some cash from the movies they make, they want to creatively express themselves and it’s that sort of freedom that I guess, appeals to actors to really be themselves and not what the studios expect them to perform.

So maybe, just maybe, The Giant Mechanical Man might be turn out a great film.
