New Heist movie about stealing Nicholas Cage’s comic

I can barely believe the headline myself but there’s a film in the very early stages about the theft of Nicholas Cage’s copy of Action Comics #1. Don’t know what that is? Why that’s the comic that introduced the world to Superman! The most iconic and recognizable comic book character of all time! And being the insanely huge comic book nerd that Nicholas Cage is he actually owned a copy. But it was stolen. Hence the movie.

Cage has tons of interesting comic book-related stories and one of them will be turned into a movie..
Hollywood Reporter said Lionsgate is going to develop a movie based on .. are you ready?.. based on the true story of how Cage lost his rare comic book of SUPERMAN, in 2000. Over a decade later, 2011 to be exact, the issue was discovered among in an abandoned storage locker. It sold for a record $2.1 million at auction.
Currently titled ACTION NO. 1 which will be scripted by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, will be about a group of nerds who attempt to steal Cage’s copy of Action Comics No. 1, the landmark 1938 comic that introduced the world to the Man of Steel.

This sounds awesome. As a comic book fanatic myself I certainly understand the yearning to own this rarity comic books. Action Comics #1, Amazing Fantasy #15, and Amazing Spider-Man #298 are among some of the comics still on my theft must own list. I hope that I’ll have these books in my posession some day if only to admire and stroke them while repeatedly naming them “My Preciousssss'”. It’ll be a pitiful but gloriously enjoyable day and I hope we all someday experience that level of satisfaction. I’m super interested in seeing how this develops and I have a strong belief that Nic Cage himself may really consider joining this production. Now excuse me while I review my hit wish list.

  1. I wonder if that should even hit the news. Production companies thrive on such kind of hype and I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this won’t just pique someone’s interest…to make them want to watch the movie. Let’s wait and see what happens.
