Rob Corddry added to Michael Bay’s “Pain and Gain” that’s also starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson, and Ed Harris

With everything ‘Transformers’ consuming all the time, press, and publicity surrounding Michael Bay it’s getting increasingly difficult to remember that the guy actually wants to make a low budget film. Hell, I didnt even remember that he collected a cast for this movie so it’s with great surprise that I’m finding out that’s expanding on that cast and with delight we’re learning that it’s Rob Corddry

PAIN AND GAIN is based on 1999’s Miami New Times Article which is about a pair of Florida bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and kidnapping gone awry. Corddy plays a former competitive bodybuilder named John Mese who now owns his own gym where Wahlberg’s character works as personal trainer. Mese was once an account and notary, skills that makes him a valuable yet unwilling member of Wahlberg’s scheme.

Scripted by Captain America: The First Avenger screenwriting team, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely

This is pretty good news. I like Corddry and thinks he’s pretty funny when given ample opportunity. He has a certain tone of comedy that’s doesn’t always appeal to everyone but with an ensemble cast like this I’m really anxious to see the results of what he adds to the mix. The Rock and Wahlberg somewhat shared the screen with “the Other Guys” and I hope to see more of them flexing their seldomly used comedic muscles in this flick. Michael Bay, you have piqued my interest now don’t let me down.
