Sequel to 300 Gets Director Noam Murro

It’s been a flip-flop of who gets what, but WB has offered Smart People helmer Noam Murro to tell the tale of those crazy whacked out Persians in ‘300: Battle of Artemisia’. First Showing gives us:

Guy Ritchie had been offered the chance to take on this project, THR is now saying it’s Noam Murro who will be getting the offer this week to direct Xerxes, the upcoming spin-off from Zack Snyder’s 300…Murro is getting the job essentially because Jaume Collet-Serra was given Akira, and WB was placing each of these directors on each film, so Murro is going to be offered Artemisia.

I’m not quite sure how to feel about this. I really loved Smart People, one of those few films that lives up to a title. But if WB is giving him 300 II just because Collet Serra was given ‘Akira’ it raises a bit of a question with me. It’s probably much ado about nothing, …it’s almost as if WB wants Akira more and 300 II would be nice, but the priority is with Akira. 300 II is just dumped in Murro’s hands without a care in the world. Guess they need somebody to follow up.

It’s not that I don’t think Murro can do it, it’s simply that it sounds like he’s a last minute hired gun and nothing more.

Like I said, could be nothing.
