Alex Tse will write the Crow

Who? The guy who wrote “the Watchmen” script that’s who! He’s getting another gig, and this one is a pretty big deal around here as he’s taken on the arduous task of scripting the remake of The Crow with Brad Cooper attached to star.

The Crow adaptation will be a gritty reboot of the gothic iconic character Eric Draven, who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his wife’s murder, so that his soul can finally rest. Bradley Cooper (Limitless) is attached to star as Draven. The original film is known for its breakthrough visual style as well as its unique production design and cinematography. Fresnadillo and Tse are perfectly suited to bring these beloved characters back to life, and to create a world worthy of this modern classic.

I never watched the Watchmen. Nope, I grew up a “Marvel” guy and I have very few exceptions to the rule so I’m pretty indifferent to the news. I’m excited that this movie is making headway toward production and I’m looking forward to more news about this one.

  1. I didn’t read Watchmen until after I saw the movie (i don’t really care for comics). The book is very good and the movie was also very good. I gotta say, the ending in the movie made way more sense than the book though, the book’s ending wouldve been a little too much for screen treatment. Anyway, being that Watchmen was good, writing wise at least…I still think replacing Cave as the writer was the worst idea. The Proposition is one of the best written westerns of the last 20 years. Not since Peckinpah’s “The Wild Bunch” had a western resonated in me the way the Proposition did. This is a big disappointment.

  2. It’s a good thing you didn’t watch “The Watchmen”. I’m a Marvel fan too, but please go read the graphic novel. It’s without a question one of the best stories I ever read (or saw for that matter)! The movie screwed up the story. that’s why I don’t really trust Alex Tse with “The Crow”. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

    1. Maybe you should have watched Watchmen (no “the”). The movie was pretty close to the book and considering the creative license that these adaptations tend to take it was pretty honest about the story. You could almost flip the pages of the collected series (not a graphic novel) with the movie.

So there was no giant squid. Same purpose, different visual. No big.
