Not saying that it isn't smart to emulate one of the most successful movies in history. Would you agree that since Titanic the love story/disaster movie has been somewhat overdone and for the most part done poorly? Cameron spent a great deal of the movie developing Jack and Rose’s relationship. What we usually see now is guy and girl are introduced at the beginning of the movie, they’re either together when the disaster strikes or have been separate prior to the disaster, guy spends the rest of the movie either trying to keep himself and girl alive or fight his way to her.

I believe part of Titanic’s success can be attributed to it being unique and different from the disaster movies we’d seen prior to its release. Titanic was a love story set within a disaster movie. What’s come out since, have mostly been disaster movies with a love story tacked on in an attempt capture the female audience. The idea has been similar, but the execution has fallen far short.

And what studio would want a movie with similiarities to the boxoffic success and acclaim of Titanic?

Disaster movies require a love story. Stupid as it may sound, it's the rule. Go figure....

I'd love to have another volcano film, I'm excited about this one, because Pompeii really happened. BUT why the hell do they need to include a love story?! Is it that difficult to make a captivating movie without swooning and snogging..geez. It's Titanic all over again.

It's been about 15 years since Volcano movies were in vouge. We had Volcano and Dante's Peak, Then we got astroid movies, flood movies so I guess it's time for volcano movies again. Historical volcano movies no less. At the very least, I'm sure the special effects will be cool.
