Diane Lane to be Ma Kent

Warner Brothers issued a statement today announcing Diane Lane will be playing Martha Kent, opposite Kevin Costner’s rumored role as Jonathan Kent.

In the press release:

[Director Zack] Snyder stated, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

It’s strange to me how young the Kent’s are, given that Henry Cavill just doesn’t look all that young to me. Anyway, as most know, I’m still pretty reserved and not on board this whole thing yet.

  1. Uh Diane Lane isn’t a spring chicken and I am sure they will age her up some for the role. The Kents are major players in Clarks story so I think the people they have casted in these roles are awesome. I am very motivated to see a flash physical superman movie.

    1. They’ll have to age her, she’s only 46. Since Cavill is 27, technically she could be his mother. She had him when she was pretty young though.

  2. I’m hoping that Costner and Lane, as much as I like them in this, will not have a whole lot of screen time, if only because origin stories are usually slow and we kind of already know about Supes’ origin. I’m ready for soem kick-ass action!
Very excited about the possibility of Zod!
