Whoa, I’M not assuming anything. I was just pointing out what people who aren’t really into movies say when they see Disney. I’ve asked my friends if they are going to go see Tron: Legacy (which is clearly going to be epic) with me, but most of them don’t want to see it because it is affiliated with Disney.

I should also point out that we were 3 when Disney bought Miramax, so they obviously don’t know these examples to say Disney won’t PG everything. I have a hard enough time making them watch movies from early 2000 let alone the 90s or any film in black and white.

If I was to guess though, I assume you are talking about pictures like Pulp Fiction, The Crow, Halloween (and the other horror films), etc. Obviously Disney did not candy coat these films that are clearly for an older audience. But films like Pirates and Tron that are around the PG13 – 14A rating line, I can understand people thinking that Disney would try to keep them PG13 and under. It makes sense especially in the USA where there is no 14A or 16+ rating option, when a movie could be 14A (and so likely to be R in the states), Disney would likely push to have it reduced to PG13 to be available to a wider audience.

But I see your point, and I have no problem seeing Disney subsidiary or Disney films at all. And Pulp Fiction, a hit for miramax after 93, is, well, there is a reason it’s in the top 10 on IMDB.

Because clearly Disney has that same affect on its subsidiary studios like they did to all those films out by Miramax after they acquired it in 93.

Oh that’s right. They didn’t. Disney only makes their own properties family friendly, and still produces non-family films.

Dont assume Disney will candy coat everything they touch.

If they really wanted it to be family friendly, how come it was okay to show kids it’s okay to look up women’s dresses? (I’m referring to the scene where the two goof-ball pirates check out Keira Knightley under the docks)

Also, isn’t the next Pirates movie supposed to be centered around Jack Sparrow. Isn’t it kind of hard to make a movie about Sparrow and how he became who he was, etc. without having his father in it? This is why everyone I know is hesitant to see a Disney film not just targeted to kids (Tron Legacy, Surrogates, etc), because Disney won’t go all out on the action and fighting because it is less family friendly. Marvel fans better pray that Disney doesn’t do this to their films once Paramount’s contract with Marvel expires.
