I read 2000ad as I as growing up... it was a massive thing for it's readers and led a whole generation of ideas, theories and just plain crazy stuff, with some of the best artwork you'd get anywhere. Artists like Simon Bisley on ABC warriors was just incredible.. Most of the films you see nowadays are just remakes of stories that past throught the pages of 2000ad 20 years back. Judge Dredd was a part of that.

Some of the Judge Dredd stuff was epic, stories lasting years which would just blow the mind of any reader young or old, really twisted apocolyptic stuff. The last Judge Dredd film had been waited for for years and when it finally arrived was, and still is THE worst film I have ever seen in my life. Unbelievably crap and a complete joke.

It was so bad, I couldn't even watch it without wanting to kick the hell out of the screen and I expect most proper fans thought the same. In fact it still winds me up now how they could make a film so bad, incorrect and totally cheesy.

If they ever dare to make another film that even suggests it has something to do with 2000ad or Judge Dredd, it better be bloody good... and an 18 at least.

Cheers

Assuming they want this film to be taken seriously. Last I checked Karl Urban isn't up for any major awards, he is there because he is a good action star (for todays standards). This is going to be a pure fantasy romp and I am all for that. Keep the outfit, make things go boom, Thats what I expect to see.

That suit is utterly rediculous. What works in a comic wont always work on the screen. The XMen didn't wear yellow spandex because it would look silly.

Dredd wont ever be taken seriously when he looks like a junkyard clown.

The suit is not at all important as the story where law has been reduced to the judgement call of a street cop.

The armour makes no sense, the shoulders are built that he couldnt even scratch his own nose. It needs to be adapted if this film is going to be taken seriously.

Are you saying one of the reasons Judge Dredd failed is because of his suit?

That's ridiculous. Taking away his suit is like taking away Superman's tights and cape. Because it simply wouldn't translate to film. Oh but it does. And it did.

The suit is not a problem. The problem with the original Judge Dredd was the lame dialog, the hoaky effects, and the shitty acting. Not to mention throwing Rob Schneider in as the comic relief and making Judge Hershy, Judge Dredds love interest. Oh and the fact that Dredd spent most of his time with his helmet off and out of the suit.

I'm ok with switching the colors up. As long as they keep the Gold, Black and Red. But the suit is important for any comic adapted to film. Take away his suit is taking away his identity.

I've never read a Judge Dredd comic in my life, so I have no knowledge of that world, expect from that shitty film released back in 1995.

Removing Judge from the title is unnecessary and a stupid move marketing wise.

Me: Let's go see Dredd.

Friend: What's Dredd?

Me: You know, Judge Dredd?

Friend: Why didn't you just say that in the first place?

Me: Don't get sassy with me, I didn't name the title.

It's not like the character is well known as the likes of Spider-Man, Superman, Batman etc. And the original film came out 15 years ago, so trying to separate this reboot as far from the original as possible is foolish.
