Just to let you know...the animation style was based on the original artwork for the comic that this film was based on. Therefore they had to stay true to it and they did an amazing job. And I absolutely loved it, but that's just my opinion.

Um, just to let you know, the movie is called Superman/Batman because it is based ON a line of comic books wntitled Superman/Batman. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies was of the same line of comics; didn't you notice how in the beginning the radio personalities are commenting on "President Luthor's" impeachment? However, they should have called it Superman/Batman: Supergirl, which is the actual name of this collection in the line.

I do agree that sometimes the dialogue was a little stale, like that scene between Wonder Woman and Big Barda when they're wandering through the sewers on Apokolips. What the hell was that? I didn't read the particular comic that this one was based on, so I can't really say if that wasn't necessary or not, but if it was in the comic, they could have at least done it better. However, I believe the acting talent within the film allowed them to pull it off anyway. I absolutely loved the animation style and believed that the action scenes were incredibly well done. I enjoyed the relationship that was conveyed between Superman and Supergirl and felt that it allowed for a more human/vulnerable side of Superman to be displayed as opposed to the god-like figure that we see in some of the other movies.

I have read other comics within this series and I can assure you, it is one of the best comic series I've ever read. Big Noise was especially one of my favorites.

The question I want to know is, are they doing any more Superman/Batman movies in this line? Because it's only the first two installments, Public Enemies and Supergirl, that are somewhat dependent on each other in terms of story-line. The other ones can stand on their own. I would love to see more following in this series.

Didn't need the pg-13 rating? I guess you missed the part where Barda speared a Fury through the chest, killing her? Or the brutal death of a character right before we're introduced to Darkseid.

I disagree with this review. The comic that this is based on was a vehicle to launch Supergirl back into the DC Universe. The movie was used for the same purpose. The movie followed the comic faithfully instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. Though it may not have been the best movie dc has made it was not terrible by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe a strong 6 or a weak 7 instead of a 4. FYI, for the guy that commented that Superman was "too pretty", the art was based on Michael Turner's work (the original artist of this arc in the comic) and was pretty well done.

I was pretty disappointed with the movie as well. However, I really did enjoy the Green Arrow short and wouldn't mind if they made an actual animated feature with just him. I like that DC/WB are making animated shorts and that they're making them rather quickly, but this one just didn't feel like the others like Rodney had stated. I think DC should really focus on making more animated features on characters that aren't going to have a big draw for a live action film, for example Deadman, Animal Man, or Adam Strange. Batman and Superman do draw attention just because of who they are but this film had the feeling it was just made because of who the characters were and they weren't really too concerned with how strong the story was, which it really wasn't that strong.

It's common knowledge that Rodney is a huge fan of comics (I personally am fascinated by them, but don't have the patience or the money to get really into them the way most fans do).

I have faith in Rodney as a reviewer, so it's good to see him blasting something that isn't good - even if he really loves the franchise it originates from.

It probably came off as more "attack" than I meant.

Darkseid cloned Doomsday and made an army in the graphic novels. They were no where near as powerful as the original Doomsday. So they stayed true to the comics. So you can't fault them at all for that.

This movie seemed like it was more oriented towards teenage girls. Which is maybe why I didn't like it as much. With the shopping spree and all the girly aspects.

The art style also seemed like it was done by the people who did the Totally Spies cartoon or one of the Barbie movies. Superman looked way to pretty IMO.

Batman and the final show down with Darkseid were the only redeeming qualities I found in the movie. That being said. I look forward to more of these Movies. Under the Red Hood is probably my favorite. And I just saw a Green Arrow short that was also quite good.

This is actually based on a story arc from the "Superman/Batman" comic series. I have yet to see the dvd but from your criticism of Doomsday's involvement it sounds like they followed the graphic novel faithfully. I am not saying I disagree with your point about it lessening the intensity of the character but I think this is an issue with Jeph Loeb, writer of the original comic story arc, and not this dvd adaptation.
