No, but when the actor they want for a young person doesn’t look young then its not wise to cast that actor.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt does not look that young. He looks every day his own age.

Unless you are watching 10 Things I Hate About You and assume he still looks like that.

I would trust Gordon-Levitt in almost any role. He’s just a tremendous actor, one of the best talents out there, especially for roles where he can be eccentric. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I saw Levitt in Mysterious Skin. Wowzers. Give him a challenging, quirky role and he *will* rise to the occasion.

In reply to Rodney. %00 Days of Summer? Are you kidding? What about Mysterious Skin, Brick and The Lookout? Or Manic? He's been darker than Tom in 500 Days of Summer. Another little side note, funny, a lot of people think Levitt and Ledger look a lot alike too. Weird.

Forget Gordon-Levitt, get Leonardo DiCaprio. Than get Johnny Depp to take over the role of the Joker, even though he is officially ruled out.
