In reply to jon. I'm no fanboy. But given the source material, at least they close to that tone. Even when the story deviate abit from it. Let put the example of obvious. What if someone create a movie based from Hannibal character but slapped PG13 rating on it with less blood in it? I'm sure i'll hear cry foul from every corner. The same with comic book movie.

A ‘gritty’ and ‘dark’ film based on a comic book. What an amazing idea!

Now, I don’t mean to be a troll, but, c’mon people. Gritty/dark comic films were played out by the time they made Daredevil.

How can geeks be both impossible-to-please and yet so damned easy-to-please at the same time.

The first one turned into just another Stallone movie as soon as he took the helmet off, but had potential.

It was too lightweight the first one, I think even Stallone was disapointed. I think a Dredd movie should be like vehoevens RoboCop movie, ultra-violent, tough and with a wry sense of humour.

Statham isnt too bad a choice, its needs someone with a strong jaw and a scowl. Also, dont show his face, V for Vendetta has shown that this can work.

I love the first one! It got screwed at the box office by the MPAA slapping it with an R rating, even though it definitely didn’t deserve it. I think it is a quality film, with an awesome performance by Armand Assante.
