I friggin love the He-Man still. I think the characters where great. So many of them would be amazing to see come to life.
But in ’87 the film fell short of amazing. It was kind of lame, even as a kid, I didn’t really enjoy it.
They brought in new characters, which were not needed & did that whole lame as “Comes To Earth” thing. Blah.

I want to see an epic Eternia Battle!

it could be amazing if they really stick with it & don’t crap out by creating new characters.

100 bucks I bet Paramount or Universal takes over and does this movie the way Mattel wants to.

Anyways I loved He-Man way more than the robot cartoon john mentioned but I don’t think it should be even attempted in live action.

But if they do end up doing it then well I will be there opening weekend.

Well I say its good news Mattel doesnt back down. Look what Paramount did when they choose Summers to direct G.I. Joe. As for Masters being translated to film a second time and being awsome… Sure its possible it just would need lots of work. More than Freddy vs Jason.

Why does this site constantly point out that people shouldn’t judge films, positive or negative, based on early information (ie Avatar trailer, Halo is great even when made by unknown director, etc) and even goes out of its way not to judge a movie when weird casting decisions are may, yet then calls movies awful before they are made (or even read the script)?

The right script can make even the weirdest concepts work well in a movie. This script was getting receiving praise too. The He-man re-imagining a few years ago was also fun. Doesn’t guarantee this movie will be great, but there’s no reason it must be awful either.

Umm, because the premise itself is just gawdawful. Have you watched it lately? Do your expectations a favor and try and catch an episode (I’m sure YouTube has something.)

Sure. It could be another GI Joe, I guess, but is that something to aspire to? And that’s leaving aside the fact that GI Joe’s premise – at least in theory – had some promise.

He-Man was never as big as the other icons (GI Joe, Transformers). Even in the 80s – as close, timewise, as they were to the original series and fans – the movie crashed and burned financially. Kids who had grown up with the show didn’t go see it. Now those kids are in their thirties and forties. Think about it.

I was gonna call this one DOA even before Warner dropped out. Now? It may eventually make it to the screen, but I can guarantee, even this far out, that it will not be a good film.

Well, for me this is great news. I’m writing one now but it won’t come into play until after a graduate from the Art Institute of Seattle. which is in like four years…

plus, who’s to say it will ever see the silver screen anyways.

Argh, posts like this really get under my skin…

-Why- would it be awful? Why does it have to be either awful, or awesome awful? Because it’s origins are a cheesey 80’s cartoon? Because the last attempt at a live action movie was camp as hell?

With the right script, and an updated take on the story, why couldn’t this work as a solid fantasy adventure? I could see this working as a new, epic film franchise like Star Wars. A sword and sorcery film set in a LOTR type world, but with advanced technology added in.
