They are making a Cowboy Bebop live action movie.

20th Century Fox is making it. Keanu Reeves is set to play Spike, according to Wikipedia anyway. Both the creator and writer of the original series are going to be associate producers. And Peter Craig as the screen writer.

It’s set for a 2011 release date.

I don’t ever remember them saying he was going to for sure direct Avengers, just that he kind of wanted to, that it’s still all up in the air.

But who ever does end up doing it, I’m pretty damn sure Marvel will make a good choice. Avengers is one of there biggest babies and they’ve already spent quite a bit building it up, with the Iron Man and Hulk movies, and all the hype. For them to pick a crappy director when the time comes to start making the Avengers movie, would be just STUPID AS HELL.

As for Favreau deciding to do Cowboys and Aliens for now, MORE POWER TO HIM! It’s nice to see him focusing on stylized action projects instead of just going back to kids movies. Also not letting himself get tied down with noting but Marvel films. Cowboys & Aliens should be pretty awesome and can’t wait to see more on it.

But also, who knows, The Avengers movie is still more then 2 YEARS away and from my understanding Cowboys & Aliens has been in the works for at least a year now. So chances are he’ll be done with this movie well before they start filming for Avengers. If he is still up for it and gets picked, he’ll simply do it then.

Yeah, Favereu was never set to direct Avengers, at least not that I know of. Last I heard, he WANTED to, but several directors have made it known that they wanted to, so that doesn’t really mean much.

And Cowboys and Aliens has been in pre-production for awhile now (About a year I believe), so I wouldn’t say it’ll take too long to make from this point.

Maybe i missed something but last i heard was that Favereau was only producing Avengers anyway, it’d be great if he did direct but didn’t think he was going too.
