The Monopoly games were used during WWII to sneak escape supplies to captured POWs in the German camps. There was a pain-staking process involved, and ultimately it was a success.

No, I focus on lots of the original stuff. I can’t wait for District 9, the movie 9, and I might go see Paper Heart, which I’m surprised I haven’t seen any posts about that movie on this site. Also can’t wait for Avatar.

I simply wish that there was allot more original movies that come out these days, that’s all and less stupid ideas, like a movie about a board game. Or that stupid idea to make a movie out of Asteroids, or better yet, a movie about a magical View Master, oooo…now there’s a seat filler.

There are LOTS of original ideas going around Hollywood. More original ideas than remakes/adaptations/sequels. You just choose to focus on the non-original ones so you have a point.

I guess I should of said they’re running out of good original ideas, not just ideas period. Oh no Rodney, they’ve got LOADS of ideas, just hardly any good or ground breaking original ones.

I’m sure it’ll be a dramedy about a real estate entrepreneur in the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression. There’s plenty of good material to mine: good times and hard luck, and learning that some things are more important than money, etc.

Inspiration can come from anywhere. I mean, they just made a movie about Julia Child’s cookbook.

No one is saying it DOES stink. They can’t. The movie doesn’t exist yet.

But people are entitled to an opinion, and the opinion that this is a silly idea for a movie. Yes, it might turn out to be great, but the very premise of a movie based on a board game that has no story to it is a reason for concern.

Hollywood is running out of ideas? That is ignorant to begin with, but honestly to make a Monopoly movie you NEED to have some fabricated new idea for it. There is no story in Monopoly.

Why is making movies out of old toys and board games becoming such a trend lately? I guess it’s just another sign of how horribly Hollywood is running out of ideas…
