I don’t feel sorry for the WB one bit this is what they get for moving the HP movie back 8 freaking months! Yes, I’m still a little bitter, but SO incredibly excited for July 15th. And of all the movies coming out this summer I’m more likely to see HP in IMAX than Transformers. I know I’m in the minority, but I feel the HP movies are worth my extra dollars. I really enjoyed Transformers when it came out, but repeat viewings have glared all the silliness and flaws that exist, so I’ll save that extra $10.

lol. I thin its a good decision they made. I work in a Theatre and we were wondering if we were going to get Transformers in Imax due to the 2 week period between the movies. I’m glad that its sorted out.

Ya, Transformers will totally OWN Harry Potter for so many reasons and has a much better reason to be on IMAX.

But it’s not Bay’s fault WB took so damn long to book the IMAX screens for the new Harry Potter or they didn’t have time to because of the pushing back of the film. Just sounds like a REALLY dumb move on there part and in fact could cost them millions. Assuming it is true that WB simply took to long to make a deal or didn’t fit properly into the time slot because of changing the release date.

To me WB just double screwed themselves. First they pushed back the film thinking they’d make more money if it comes out in the summer, at the beginning of July. But oh look, Transformers 2 is coming out about the same time, didn’t they know this already? Plus because of the move, it cost them IMAX theaters for quite some time. Because of those 2 mistakes, they probably cut the films earning at least by half. Even 2 weeks to a month after Transformers 2 hits, there are still going to be tones of people flocking to see it again and again. I saw the first movie 3 times, once on IMAX and 2 times in regular theaters. I’m probably going to end up seeing part 2 at least 5 times or more. I don’t see myself going to see the new Harry Potter movie more then once.

You gotta feel sorry for the die hard Potter fans though as well, I mean this is like a double edge sword. First there beloved film gets pushed back 8 freakin’ months. But now, because of it, most every Potter fan wont be able to see it in IMAX until 2 months or more later, which is like the best way to see the film, especially if they were going to do the whole part of it in 3D thing again. Which would be another ticket selling point. But I’m sure most of them wont want to wait on the IMAX version and just settle for the regular showing instead, again, costing WB money.

I’d really hate to be the one who decided to push Harry Potter back right now…

The post on Michael Bay’s website (http://www.michaelbay.com/newsblog/files/f6e60df0cc99efeb11ef2cc9297800d0-504.html) makes it sound like the month long agreement with Transformers was already in place before Harry Potter was moved to July, so it couldn’t be helped for the IMAX release.

I’m not saying that is the fact. Just that I was led to believe it was a contract reason, not a choice of one over the other. I’d actually expect Harry Potter to fair better in IMAX on it’s opening weekend over Transformers on it’s third weekend.

I did know if I read it on here but Mike Bay was talking about how in IMAX Optimus Prime will be able to be at FULL SCALE since they shot a lot of the action scenes in IMAX. I am going to wet my pants when i see that. I got tix for the midnight IMAX show in l.a. going to be a blast! I look forward to your review. I hope this thing makes a billion worldwide we will see…

i saw the last harry potter movie on IMAX and in the last i/2 hr. it turned into 3d and it looked really cool, but i do agree w/ john that seein transformers on IMAX would look cooler than harry potter on IMAX, im not gonna waste more money on an overpriced ticket to see a huge robot even BIGGER, i could do that at regular theater if i sit in seats closer to the front w/out being to close to the front.

Which one would make more money for IMAX? Transformers all the way. IMAX made the right choice business-wise.
