G.I. Joe MTV Clip Online

The GI Joe clip shown on the MTV Twilight Awards is now online.

The clip features the leadup action to the Eiffel Tower Attack scene we saw in the trailers and then shows a whole pile of action shots from the rest of the film.

The action looks over-the-top good and could prove to at least be some splodey eyecandy fun. And Baroness oozes sex appeal. Meow.

But I am still irked by little things like why Baroness and Stormshadow have to fight their way into a secure building just to shoot a rocket out a window to stage their weapon demonstration? Especially when they have an airship waiting to take them away. Why not just fly in and shoot the tower and fly out? Maybe something else happens that facilitates them needing to be there.

And the Booster Suits bother me. The Joes are supposed to be best of the best in their feild, but they require a suit that makes them faster and stronger. Best wasn’t good enough. And then in the midst of combat, lets throw off the protective helmet! I am sure I can be more effective that way! How else can I get these sexy scars that make me so much more effective when I brood?

The film will be littered with Joe fanboy moments as we see real world interpretations of classic Joe toys with massive action shots. It looks like it will be a lot of fun, but mostly because I expect nothing but action eyecandy out of this.

No one here will win an Oscar for this film, but they might win an MTV Award category. Best Eiffel Tower Attack.

  1. The suits don’t really make sense to me, when I first saw the teaser trailer I thought they were part of Cobra’s arsenal and that the Joes would have to face off against the Cobra B.A.T.S. from the old cartoon and comics. I think that would have been a better direction in my opinion. Also one thing I didn’t like is that Sienna has no russian accent for the baroness. Granted she looks ridicously hot, but I think adding that little ruskie accent would have made it better. Ah well, I will still see it anyways.

  2. It seems like you fans from the 80’s wanted G.I Joe to be the next schindlers list.
It’s based on a kid cartoon why can’t people accept that?
This is for children and sexdriven hormon disturbed adolescents.
But most fans of all things 80’s somehow think this should be tailored for their 20-30 something mindsets.

    Grow up.

  3. Anyone know if we will get a cameo from Sgt Slaughter or former Chicago Bear William “The Refrigerator” Perry, the only two real humans to become GI Joes?

  4. my inner nerd wants to be mad, but he committed suicide after realizing they will never make a movie based on an 80s cartoon as good as i remember….so ill turn my mind off again and enjoy the ridiculously stupid ride.

  5. I’m looking forward to this movie. G.I. Joe to me has always been about the over the top action scenes.

If they were to do an exact representation of the 80s G.I. Joe, It would look cheesy and the average movie goer will not buy into it.

The movie looks very cartoony with all the action, And thats what G.I Joe is, cartoon style action.

  6. The Booster suits are annoying and horrendous!

    The Dialogue is F’n Aweful!

The Action looks pretty good, but the CGI looks bad, like… “Wolverine” BAD!

Finally, Stormshadow – Mask = poor use of Cool Ninja!

  7. I hate everything thing I have seen of GI Joe footage and at this point Snake Eyes isn’t even a draw anymore. Those accel suits are fucking horrible and the Baroness is sexy until she opens her mouth. I don’t typically judge a movie before it is released, but I feel pretty comfy saying this movie will suck and not even the popcorn movie defense can save the flick. I hate Stephen Sommers.

  8. I seem to remember talking about the costumes and how much I thought they looked stupid. Im happy to know I was right all along. Right now I think the only movies worth the price of admission is Revenge of the Fallen and Harry Potter.

    1. Who says this proves you right? I think the costumes are a suitable update to the campy cartoony costumes. Not something I would wear to the mall, but they work for this.

    2. I am actually beginning to agree with you, somehow those suits took something away from the movie. It makes them seem more robot than human (even though it is just a suit) and if I wanted to see a robot action I would see Transformers. I think the biggest problem with the suit is the helmet, it makes it look more like a space suit than a “delta accelerator”.

I think this movie could be lots of fun. I don’t think ANYONE expected to get an oscar from this film. I can also come up with 1 more movie worth seeing, Public Enemy.

    3. “And the Booster Suits bother me. The Joes are supposed to be best of the best in their feild, but they require a suit that makes them faster and stronger. Best wasn’t good enough.”

Your such a hypocrite Rodney, first you tell me the suits are fine and state of the art. Now you just mentioned the same thing I said on other g.i. joe posts. Now your saying their better than the campy cartoon? In the orginal most of the had standard military uniforms, so how is that campy?

On another note, the tag line for the Joes is “When all else fails, we dont.” OK didnt the Joe’s just fail to stop Cobra from destroying the tower?

    4. The “we dont” line is more of a “you better not” sentiment. The US army has a no failure attitude as well, but you can’t win them all.

And I am NOT a hypocrite. There is a big difference between a costume and those armoured suits they gear up with. I said I don’t like the idea behind the suits, I never said they look stupid.

And I think the costumes and interpretations of the characters involved are all decently done. They look fine.

    5. Your kidding me right? Your making excueses for bad writing by subsituting the tag line? If the tag line was suppose to mean “When all else fales, you better not.” Why didn’t they just put that on the movie poster? I would have wrote, “When all else fails, call in the Joes.”

The armor suits are still costumes, there not real, its a movie. But lets play it your way. I said before the “IDEA” of the form fitting suits didnt make sense. Why not put them in normal BDUs? Not we see they have armor suits to make them better then the best. Which as we seen in the clip it really didn’t help.
Lets call a spade a spade. No matter if we are talking about the form fit suits or the armor suits both are considered costumes. I say the whole look of the film is a bad “IDEA”.

    6. You mean the corner Grave is pretending I am in?

I have always said I liked the costumes, but I was not impressed by the Booster Suit things. They just don’t seem to fit the GIJoe themes.

The costumes fit just fine, and are an appropriate update to the cheesy costumes from the cartoon.

    7. Who is pretending? Its your own words that hundreds are reading each day. You just seem to say one thing and say something diffrent later. You can’t even admit your wrong or made a mistake.
“Thats just the point. GIJoe never had super robot suits, nor did they do superpower injections.”

Yeah thats true but the Joe’s never wore skin tight black form fitting suits either. So why is my opinion less valid then yours?

    8. Because I am not wrong, nor have I made a mistake. I dont mind the costumes, or the futuristic body armour. Those are suitable for the translation of the cartoon to film. But the power suits are not.

And yet military does wear body armour, some of the test stuff is looking a LOT like what they are wearing, so it makes sense that a futuristic version of an elite military group would wear something like that.

Joes and Military don’t use Master Chief suits.

    9. Your truly in your own world. I dont know where you get your military info from but I can assure you that 90% of the equipment they test ends up in the trash later. These combat uniforms would never make it to the production line. So now your thinking “Oh but its a movie it doesnt have to be 100% real”. You be right, however your argument about the power suits would be hypocritical then wouldn’t it? Come on? You can accept the body armor in the movie, but you cant accept my opinion of why I not like them? I say I think the power suits are a bad idea and you object to that only later you agree but cant admit that others felt the same way before you? Your the definition of egosentric.

    10. I was willing to give the booster suits a try. But they just dont fit. The Joes in the cartoon NEVER wore armour, so why can’t we have them in combat suits instead? You are overly hung up on me having no problem with the body armour suits, even though I don’t like the booster suits.

As for my Military Info, there is a guy in Canada who has produced a bodysuit that can repell a bear attack (there is a documentary about his project) and at its core is a water sealed teflon plate reinforced bodysuit. This was considered for use by the military but deemed too costly (because lives have a monetary value apparently)

Batman can wear a suit like this because it explains things better than spandex, but the Joes cant. Thats just too much for you to grasp.

    11. “You are overly hung up on me having no problem with the body armour suits, even though I don’t like the booster suits.”

It has nothing to do with me being overly hung up on anything. You fail to understand the irony of your opinion. The booster suits you feel are not a fit as we can both argee. But you cant even understand my position on the armor suits. Again these soliders are supose to be the best of the best. Why do they need special armor or booster suits to make them even better? Batman is not a solider, he’s a fighter and theirs a certain element of theatrics in Batmans world. If you want to look at militry tech (beyond Bear attacks) then you can tell their is a SLIGHT differance in the combat uniforms used in the first Iraq war and todays. My point is whats the trouble with using moderen military technology then comic book, sci-fi military tech?

    1. Yeah man
the bad guys without booster suits seem to be more powerful than the good guys with booster suits

So much for the Joes being “the best” in their field

    2. How do they look “more powerful”

The guys in the booster suits are chasing CARS on foot, and climbing up buildings after an elevator.

If they showed Baroness boxing a Joe in a booster suit into sumbmission, sure, but she shoots the very ground out from beneath him and then ducks into a JET.

      How is this “more powerful”?

    3. To Seth’s defense, the one guy shooting the warhead did get put through a wall, walked it off, jumped out a window and caught a hold of the jet…but maybe that’s just good ol’ bad guy toughness. lol

    4. He was the one shoved through the wall. The impact should have been greater for him, but yet hes still able to get up before the guy in the suit.

Maybe in the sequel the good guys could get the same toys as the bad guys and they could do away with the suits.

I still think its a dumb idea to have two separate reasons to explain the impossible. Stick with suits or stick with superhuman injection or something.

    5. Thats just the point. GIJoe never had super robot suits, nor did they do superpower injections.

That is what is bothering me about the suits. It just doesn’t fit the kind of thing Joe has always been about.

    6. “It just doesn’t fit the kind of thing Joe has always been about” Thats exactly right. The people behind this film simply decided to dump loyalty and good plot material for cool action scenes, and the unfortunate thing is that its going to work. This movies probably going to rake in one of the highest profits this year.
