Knowing that Thor is one of the corniest comic characters EVER is wut has me PUMPED to see this movie. Marvel made Iron Man AWESOME and The Hulk AWESOME AWESOME. I think they can pull this off. See they’ve got “love” on their side. Their love for these characters. And it shows in their movies.

I think an acting choice is all about respect. Unless this movie is marketed & cast perfectly it will get no respect. Especially in Thor’s area. He wears a red cape, speaks Shakespearean, and swings a hammer that shoots lightening bolts. That’s not exactly hard to ridicule. We need an actor who can look & sound serious, commanding, and natural with the language.

What I mean is that we need the hecklers and douchebags either shitting themselves, or so engaged that they can’t find anything to screw with.
Iron Man received all kinds of respect because it was a good movie, and they kept it rooted in science and logic (as best they could).
The Hulk on the other hand needed to prove himself; he had to do that one enormously fantastic feat of strength and power that would just make everyone say “whoa.” Unfortunately that didn’t happen, and the Hulk suffered severely from ridicule. “He never really went incredible.”

And so we need that with Thor. No silliness, no stupidity, just hardcore demon-trouncing action combined with a decent & simplistic costume, and balancing it out with easily translatable Shakespearean dialogue.
Kevin McKidd seems too young, and Skaarsgard seems too flimsy. And like I said we need someone who commands respect the moment they appear on screen.
And just remember Branagh: You don’t only hold the fate of Thor in you hands, but that of ALL the mystical and non-scientific Marvel characters. If this fails to place a good balance of magic & science/technology, then we can forget about Dr. Strange, or a decent Ghost Rider remake (just to name a few).
I don’t know who they found, but I hope it was a damn good choice.

Most wrestlers aren’t very good actors., but if you look at the resemblence between them, he looks a lot like him, I mean I don’t really know what Odin looks like (I’ll google image him later), but if he looks like Thor, then I think he could be a good Odin (or did they already cast someone as him?).
