Hugh Jackman Joins Ghostopolis

I really dig Hugh Jackman and I’ll generally give anything he’s in a shot. Even thought I wasn’t all that impressed with Wolverine this weekend, Jackman, as usual, did his job and delivered the goods.

Word now is that he’s just joined up with a Disney production called “Ghostopolis”. To me it sounds a little bit too much like another Men In Black movie. The folks over at Dark Horizons give us this:

Doug TenNapel’s comic centers on a man who works for the government’s Supernatural Immigration Task Force. His job is to send ghosts who have escaped into our world back to Ghostopolis. When a living boy accidentally is sent to the other side, the agent must team with a female ghost (and former flame) to bring him back.

See what I mean? Replace the word “ghosts” in that with the word “aliens” and you’ve instantly got Men in Black 3 right? Well, that aside, to me the premise sounds kind of lame. We’ll have to wait to hear more about it.

  1. here is something that is off topic.

after watching Hugh Jackmans new movie Xmen origins Wolverine I realize that he had a striking resemblance to solid snake in from the Metal Gear Series and he would be an excellent look alike. Just look back into the Vietnam war scene and you would see the resemblance.

    1. Ya, I can see that, if he can get more into the character then his just ok portrayal of Wolverine.

Did you know that the guy who voices Snake in the U.S. version of the series also wrote the script for X-Men 2?

  2. I saw devin at chud say this buty it is what I have been saying for a long long time is jackman a star or is wolverine a star?

seriously outside of playing wolverine audiences do not turn out for his films is big numbers. in fact his only real bonafide hits are the x men films. he has a lot of turkeys behind his name.

the guy has to wear claws to be a draw

  3. It might be an affects driven kids movie. How wonderful. I’m hoping that it would be more like The Frighteners. Now that was a great ghost movie.

  4. Ever since the first X-men I have loved Jackman but man he chooses such bad projects to work on. The projects are either really bad or just flops at the boxoffice. I mean Kate and Leopold, Van Helsing, Swordfish just to name a few. I did like the Prestige though, but he’s still got lousy taste in movies. This Disney project sounds really lame.

  5. Any time I think of Disney and ghosts I think of The Ghosts of Buxley Hall. Which had a much more interesting story than this, though this could still turn out to be amusing. If I had my say, though, I’d rather see a remake of The Ghosts of Buxley Hall with Hugh Jackman as one of the ghosts.
