This is comedy. I like Glenn Morshower as an actor, so I will lean more towards the hilarity I am finding in that it sounded like Michael Bay (who I don’t care for a whole lot) catered to Morshower on this. From naming the character, down to, ‘Don’t agree to it yet, let me send you the script.’ If I didn’t know any better, it almost sounds like Bay was ready to start stroking him.

Since it was never shown directly that he died in the first one it isn’t really necessary to make him a “new” character. I’m guessing he will be exactly the same.

He is a very recognizable person, and I’m sure most people that are fans of the franchise will notice, he was in the trailer, as well as the beginning of the movie (which I for one have seen more times than the end of the movie). But, it’s not like they gave him a funeral or released an actual statement confirming his death. But it is odd to bring him back to play a different character, maybe give him an Austin Powers wig and glasses. (because he looked more like Dr. Evil in the first?)

It was just assumed that everyone BUT the team that encountered Scorpinok died (I think its mentioned in the film too)

But honestly, who’s to say he can’t play the same guy. He can play a very distinct and different person in the sequel. Maybe he will have a mustache or something else distinguishable.

If Bay likes the actor, thats his prerogative to call on them. If he played the same character I would be rolling my eyes, but I see nothing wrong with this.
