A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas

I wasn’t a big fan of the first Harold and Kumar film. If it wasn’t for Neil Patrick Harris I don’t know if I would have laughed once in that movie. To my surprise, I ended up loving the second Harold and Kumar film… a lot… and NPH was even better the second time around.

Simple Hollywood economics state that when a movie costs just over $10 million to make, and pulls in over $40 million, you’ve gotta consider doing another one. And so in 2010 we will be treated to “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas”.

This makes a lot of sense, and not just because of the finances. John Cho’s name just got a lot hotter with the impending success of Star Trek and Kal Penn is now an Obama Liaison. This is a matter of striking while the proverbial iron is hot.

I’m all for this. Yeah, it may be going back to the well one too many times, but the second movie really entertained me, and as long as they get Neil Patrick Harris on board, I’ll be looking forward to it. At the same time… if they don’t get NPH, I’m not sure what my anticipation level will be like… let’s hope they’re wise enough to have him there.

  1. The first one was better. The Second was way too stupid, but I thought it was “ok/good”. Had some good moments. But Rob Corddry’s character was just terrible and annoying, though Rob himself is a funny guy.

A third one would be great, and btw, if you wait after the credits of the second one, you see that NPH survived and got back up in a very bad ass way.

  2. I think both movies were good, especially after I saw them a second time around.
Really hopin for a third one! NPH was shot, but we just saw him go down, doesnt mean he`s dead, especially in a movie like that. Plus, he`s NPH!!! He`ll walk it off…

  3. Second one was funny but not as good as the first.

Also, the fact that they went with a different “look” for the second didn’t do anything for me…watch the two back to back and you’ll see what I mean.

Anyway…3rd one? Meh. I’ll hold off judgment but I’m not that excited…but it could very well be awesome.

  4. I think 1 was great but, call me crazy, I think 2 was waaay over the top and borderline stupid. I know people probably said that about 1, but it was kind of refreshing and it did help restart the “buddy stoner” genre.
    That said, I’m looking forward to this 3rd one…H&K + NPH = $$$

  5. I thought the first one was classic and the 2nd one was so so. Perhaps John has not partaken of the Herbal Wisdom and can’t get the 420 humor. NPH was awesome in the first one but the Bobby Lee cameo was hilarious too as well as Anthony Anderson cameo as the Drive Through Burger joint worker.

  6. well seeing that it is a christmas story they can put NPH as the goes of christmas past, present and future, or whatever the case may be.

  7. I love the first 2, and I want a third, but this is not the movie I want to see. I dont want a christmas themed Harold and kumar, thats a bad idea.

    1. I hope you see this version, it was amazing! I cried from laughing so hard during to many scenes to mention. It’s worth the $10 bucks and it’s more in your face than ever and I’m not talking about the 3D.
