chris have u played the game? the game is set on a planet that has shitty icy weather like hoth…..lots of big robot wars etc…..i can see why it is gonna cost them that kind of money….

I think that budget is ridiculous. All kinds of great big FX movies can get made for $60-80M. Even “Return of the King” got made for $94M.

I’m convinced VFX departments are over-charging studios and can deliver the same quality for half the budget. “Iron Man” only had 2-3 CGI robots and a few vehicles, and it unnecessarily cost $140M. Mechanical objects aren’t hard to make in CGI. Most of that probably went to the actors.

Maybe because this money isn’t coming from Microsoft or anyone at all associated with Halo.

This is a venture by Capcom – not Microsoft. The owners of this property – Capcom – have no relation whatsoever to Microsoft’s Halo.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the game, but my brother loves it and we will both definitely have to see this movie.
