Wow, way too many people here are shallow when it comes to watching movies. M. Night is great. Lady In The Water was a bit annoying, granted, but he just keeps getting deeper and deeper with each movie for the most part. Social commentary, human nature, psychology, sociology, spirituality, that pit at the core of every single individual. This is his downfall. His movies are becoming too deep. The happening was great if you looked past face value, if you are actually able to see whats going on in the world around you and make the connections. The problem is that too many people now days just want face value, idiotic, mind numbing entertainment. They might be ok with having to scratch past face value a little bit, but having to actually think and analyze? No, humanity as a whole is becoming to stupid and lazy for that.

Anyone know when the trailer for 'Devil' will be available to view?

I tend to like M. Night's directing ability. He may not have the best dialog written, but his music is out of this world! Music is such a great creator of mood and suspense. Just think what any movie would be without music. Tears wouldn't seem as poetic, laughter wouldn't seem so joyous and heroic actions wouldn't seem so heroic. Heck, now that I think about it, maybe the lack of dialog combined with his brilliance of music and set selection are what makes his movies so gripping.

My favorite movie of his was 'The Village' - again, the music, setting and dialog (older English) combined with a great base story and nice little twist turn for a great film. My least favorite would be 'Lady in the Water'. This had very bad dialog, somewhat annoying cast, but the music was still fantastic and the setting was pretty good. Guess it just goes to show that you have to have all or it's nothing.

Night needs to come back to the real world, and deflate his ego.

Granted he is very talented, and he is also very original. But in today's hollywood, every filmmaker needs to understand that they can be a victim of their own success. I think Night should make more movies as director, but to slow way down and maybe come out with one every five years or so.

Meanwhile, a la Spielberg, come up with the concepts and ideas, and produce for some younger filmmakers. This is what George Lucas should've done a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

I think this is a great move. I think he has a similar problem as George Lucas, and having someone else helm his movies is a smart idea. I think he has good writing potential, and he does a good job at getting really good shots, but the movies still lack something. I like his movies for the most part, except for the Happening, that was terrible.

I really think the Shamhammer is a fantastic director. Not the greatest writer, but he does a fantastic job setting up the atmosphere in his films and getting good performances out of his cast. This is a guy who needs more diverse films on his plate. I look forward to seeing how he handles "The Last Airbender."

I love M.Night's films. With the exception of "the Happenning" I have had no beef with any of the other. I agree with Rodney in that "Unbreakable" is my Favourite one as well. Still, I am glad that he has put his next film in the hands of others... it shows a growth in his character that I think he needed to have happen. Looking forward to "The Last Airbender" as well.

i've loved all his films except for the happening, it was just a disaster of a movie. this sounds good to me though, it might help him get back on his game. i think the guy would benefit from working on a few non-fiction films, relearn how to tell a realistic story and then take that experience back into the sci-fi, fantasy, horror realm that he loves.
